How are the stadium costs broken down? How much will the student fees cover? How much has to be raised from private sources? Public debt/bonds?

UH is building an endzone facility that is supposedly going to cost $38 million but we only have pledges for $12 million so far. I think bonds will cover some of it due to it being used as classroom space, etc.

I hope you get the funds raised quickly and have a successful opening game like SMU did against Kansas in their new stadium. :)

Dr. B said a ton of money needed to be raised privately to get the project off the ground and she was no where near the amount to get the ground turned.

Is this true or just a tactic for raising money more quickly?

I believe the 2006 recruiting class was promised a stadium in 2010? Where did Dodge get the notion that the stadium would be completed in time for that particular recruiting class to play in? Was it RV? or was he misinformed?

Student fees will cover a maximum of 1/2. If we raise the rest before we've charged $30 million in fees, then students stop paying for it and the fee goes to other athletics stuff.

Your endzone facility is going to be used as a classroom?! It doesn't need to have academic purpose to be bonded, you know...

I prefer not to point fingers, and instead cross them. Just hope that Dodge has a short memory. Really shitty at math, too.

Per the other thread...send letters to the members of the Calendar Committee in Austin requesting they move this up in their schedule. If we get an early vote, it could break ground around the end of the spring semester if reports of the plans being ready are accurate.

That would be great. As long as it gets done. That is the main issue, just get it done be it two, three or five years. Get it done so that the future is bright and green.

We do not need the entire $67 million to break ground. Once the fee is approved by Austin, that is enough for the BOR to bond out the money and approve the project.

Right. I remember Dr. B quoted as saying we wont even begin until 30 mil is spoken for/raised.

If part of the stadium is used for classrooms , it is my understanding ,that state funds can be used in financing the facility.

So it is not 60 million it is 67 million?

Would you mind explaining that a little bit?

the stadim will cost $63,297,885.13 with a standard deviation of $12.32, meaning it could be as cheap as $63,297,872.81 or could balloon up to as much as $63,297,897.45

Thanks--I would have to conjecture that actual deviation is likely to deviate a whole lot more than standard deviation?

Actually, 95% of probable costs would occur within 2 standard deviations. So it's 95% likely that it will be between $63,297,860.49 and $63,297,909.77 based on your numbers. It's 5% likely that it could be more or less than that.

And that, my friends, is fun with statistics.

Seriously, though, yes, state funds can be used for whatever will be academic in nature. So if the Radisson stays, or if they make another hotel, the % of use that will be academic in nature can be funded through state assistance funds or tuition money. However, if there are zero academic functions within the actual stadium, nope. Hmmm....Green Brigade is 1 semester hour, and they practice like 50 hours per week for that 1 credit, and play about once every 2 weeks in the stadium for about 4 hours before, during, and after...so out of 104 hours every 2 weeks, 4 are in the stadium, which is 1/26th or a little under 4%. So maybe we could have about 4% of Marching Band tuition put into the stadium.

Don't some of the trainers get academic credit as well? Hmmmm....we may be on to something here.

It depends. For instance, pre-Rec Center, most of the non-classroom space was used for instructional and extracurricular space. It's sort of a mishmash of space AND usage.
