i wonder how the turnout would've been different if the referendum's wording was different!? seriously, the ballot was incredibly biased, and what an embarassment to the current SGA admin! What a horrible way to govern!!! think about it:

*censorship on its facebook group

*making fun of its own student newspaper (where's the school spirit?)

*advertising the benefits of a yes vote ON the ballot itself

*ordering online elections with no paper trail

maybe the supreme court or whatever should demand an account of the ballots cast and order an extended voting period for all the people who couldn't get the online voting site to work. that would be the least the SGA could do.

This guy, even though it's been years since he has been a student, never ceases in his attempts to undermine the efforts for success at UNT.

Why can't people just accept defeat in this situation? It is not the end of the world with this fee passing....ITS ACTUALLY MAKING UNT BETTER!! Jeez this is so rediculous....it is not like the vote was 51-49....it was a significant victory. He needs to get over it.

It is too late now, the deadline to file any type of appeal was 5 pm today, right Flyer? If I read the bylaws correctly, any type of appeal must be done by 5 pm, the next business day (after the results are certified)... so that cutoff was 40 minutes ago. Maybe he was trying to get someone to act before the 5 pm cut-off today... any chance that he got someone to go along with it?

He wrote this too....I would love to meet him and see what this douche looks like.

There were some technical problems with voting, and I'd be interested in reading a story about the ballot canvassing at some point.

Who knows? There may be a "re-vote" election soon ... just like last year, I understand (but I hope not).

I know that during our days in SGA, Jesse, we opposed online voting because of the technical problems and the lack of clear accountability. Technology may have improved since then, but you don't see city council elections online, yet. And there's a reason.

Um, Andy, I'm assuming you're probably reading this even if you aren't logged in...UNT's techies have records of all of the logins, etc. The tech issues we were afraid of have been fixed, with the exception of identity theft (which is an issue for anything you do online, voting or otherwise).

If the wording was problematic, it should have been opposed and taken to the Election Board prior to the election. Nobody did it. And if they couldn't understand what it was saying, not to sound like an elitist prick, but then they probably don't deserve to be in college.

The Facebook group is not an official UNT entity and can censor whomever they like.

Anybody can be critical of the Daily. 1st Amendment goes both ways.

If there was a likely violation of student rights, I'd be the first one asking for a revote to ensure that all results were valid and everyone was properly represented. My only remaining concern, the people not being able to vote online, was resolved and they were able to vote in person, by fax (with identifying information included) or by email in some rare cases.

SGA took steps to deal with all problems prior to the end of the election.

Regardless of your stance, it's still a good idea to pick your battles. This is a pretty unwinnable one. There was no evidence of malfeasance, no prior written complaints to the Election Board about the wording on the ballot, and no evidence from UNT's tech peeps that there was any infringement on the electronic balloting process.

I do still like bunnies, though. And, of course, pie.

What I find most amusing is that if there was a significant unfair bias on either side of this issue it would have been on the "ANTI" side.

*The student newspaper all but calls the fee criminal.

*Professors actually tell their students not to vote yes.

*People stood at computer labs trying to round up "no" votes.

*Satan = Andy Hogue

Wow...I actually liked something you posted...well written and logical...

I was kinda hoping you'd offer to fight him though...we could set it up for a halftime show at the new stadium. Be careful...he is in training.

I am not sure which one would be best for pure entertainment and enjoyment....cutting off a pinky or Jesse fighting Andy. That's a toughy.

Oh and lets not forget...we need to pay homage to Simon.

What a waste of money! I feel sorry for all the sheep that voted for this proposal. This is not going to improve athletics at UNT and will not improve the reputation of academics. I am terribly disappointed in the students and staff that voted for this horrible proposal. You have been terribly deceived. The only persons benefiting from this are the construction companies who will take millions of hard earned student money and pocket it. Good job geniuses. Now we know why you are at UNT!

LOL I think you write the same thing every time I actually get serious. I guess that's about once a year...

Though he's misguided about the Athletics fee, Andy's smart enough not to fight me!

I might be a pushover if this pinky thing takes off, though...

I agree that most people are sheeplike in their voting, attitudes, etc, but there are plenty on the other side as well.

And if 800 students were victims of ID theft/voter fraud, that's too big a number for no one to notice.
