I had a few friends go to SMU and they said that the methodist church has very little if anything to do with SMU. I think they give a little funding but rarely. Perhaps the few SMU posters on here can confirm this.

"SMU is owned by the South Central Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church."

I knew that part but I have heard that other than having that ownership they really do not have a big involvement with the university. Again this is just what I have heard from a few SMU buddies of mine but maybe some SMU people can confirm this.

Well, there is that whole Methodist seminary thing they have there that connects it to the church.

Being a life long Methodist, I've had or known several pastors that graduated from there. From what I've been told, its a wonderful seminary (almost considered going there back when I was contemplating ministry).

That being said...I still don't like SMU in general.

FYI...Duke, Princeton, and Denver U are also "Methodist" schools with seminaries that very few people outside of the Methodist church know about.

Many Methodists want no connection with SMUt and think it a detriment to the religion.

Many generalizations want no connection with random, biased conjectures and think it is a detriment to reason.
