This stadium when passed and BUILT has alot to do with student, alumni and fan support.....

I give NO CREDIT to the Athletic Department and also NT adminstration....

Several of the NO supporters who I approached told me that they werent voting YES because the atheltic department and UNT adminstration failed miserably in trying raise money for a new stadium for years and years. Because of NT supporters pressure, they brought up the athletic fee vote to students to fund the stadium because of the failures of the fundraising for the New Stadium...

I couldnt argue my point to any of them because they were correct, I was able to persuade them to not vote, period....

If you think about it, it is kinda pathetic that we couldnt raise enough money to break ground or start the project.

I kind of agree that the Alumni, as a group, can't do too much bitching and moaning, because it's supposed to be the Alumni that fund this kind of stuff. Now, the University has been all over the map through the years in deciding whether or not to have a competitive program, and haven't done a great job reaching out to those Alums, so the blame is theirs too, but we've had apathetic students that turned into apathetic Alums.

That's why I'm encouraged now that I see more students supporting athletics. It gives me hope for more of the "good" kind of Alumni that WILL give back to the University.

Have you ever seen a plan from the athletic department detailing the stadium project? As an example, we need $60 million to build the stadium...our plan is this: corporate sponsorships $11 million, student fee money, $20 million, 500 donors at the $10,000 level, etc., etc. No you haven't...that is a big part of the problem, they never spelled out specifically their plan for raising the money. I am willing to donate, but I sit here without one piece of literature detailing giving levels, etc.

I find it interesting that when the administration saw a need for a new basketball arena (back in 1970), they got "creative" in designing it, as well as what they called it, so that state monies could be used to build it.

No such intellectual energy has been forthcoming from our administration since then.....regarding football.

Of course, if the vote fails, you can forget about those kind of alumni for the most part.

A failed stadium vote and a continuation of the 0-6 season thus far and UNT athletics will take a huge blow....And the college of arts and science will get their wish and be one BIG step closer to football being dropped at UNT

I don't see how CAS is the anti-stadium crowd. True, they include Journalism and are the largest so they have the likelihood of larger numbers of "anti" people...but they also tend to be the biggest draw for many athletes and Greeks (the Frat kind, Tasty), who are the core of our school spirit.
