Didn't Flyer say he would have results around 5:15 tonight? Will we break the record for Gomeangreen.com traffic on the site tonight at around 5:15? I think this board will be jam packed and hope the servers don't fail us.

I do not believe the results can be released until 24 hours, at least publicly.

If one wanted to be at the vote count site, where would that site be ?

Who does the counting and who does the watching of the counting ?

I'm not saying I want to go to the counting, but if I did, where would I go ?

He said he might know. I don't think he stated he could announce though. Not until tomorrow.

It's a computer vote the results will be known at 5:01. And like all info there will be leaks in the in he system. If anyone is willing to post what they find out I'd put it in the VIP board personally. Either way if you know please tell I don't think I can wait until tomorrow.

Prepare yourself for a TON of posts that confirm, unconfirm, say "its official", then "no, I head someone else NOW say, etc etc etc" 5:01 will be more frustrating than the past 5 days.

There are also hand-written ballots, email ballots, and fax ballots to count by hand.

The 24 hour period is for someone to contest the results.

I agree. I'm going to be positive until I hear some reason to feel otherwise.

I assume the paper, faxed, and other types of votes have been counted as they have been coming in. I bet the SGA knows EXACTLY what the current count is right this second, and will be able to call it at 5:00:01PM tonight.

...now, how long it takes for all of us to get the actual answer is anyone's guess.

Hey guys. The vote will be known shortly after 5pm today with a little time added to take into account all the paper ballots they will have to count. The vote tally should be unofficially available as soon as they get it counted. The vote won't be official until 5pm tomorrow, provided nobody objects. The election board has to verify and sign off on the results. Someone should know should know shortly after 5pm though. They will most likely be at the SGA office which is 320S? in the union. Third floor down the hall from Wells Fargo. Anyway, the reason I am posting this is that I won't be near a computer thisevening until really late. Can I get someone to text me when they have an unoffical word on the results? I don't want to give out my cell for 200 GMG'ers to prank call me for a year but I really want to know the results as soon as someone knows something. My cell number is 817-304-1820 if someone could please text me when they know. Maybe those of you monitoring this thread can just decide among yourselves who the person is that could text me. Anyway, I hope it passes and I am confident it will!!! Go Mean Green!!!

To answer Joe's question-

The SGA Election Board does the official count, usually in the SGA office. There tends to be at least one member of the exec board as well as the advisor present, though when I was in I made sure to leave the board alone and let them do their thing. "Outsiders" can't be there for fear of "tainting" the results.

Regardless of the talk, look for 1-3 attempts to file a motion to appeal as soon as the vote ends. I still think the "unofficial" results should be secret for 24 hours. If you want to appeal, if it's valid, it shouldn't matter what the results were. "My side lost" isn't a valid reason to file an appeal. As such I find it very unlikely that there will even be a hearing for any appeals. Unless somebody files before 5pm to request a continuance of the election, or somebody streaks through a "no campaigning" zone with "Vote Yes/No" painted on their nether regions, I really don't see the Board finding a reason to accept any potential appeals, if they know what they are doing.

Hmm...I'm on campus and have to make a trip to Wells Fargo today. Maybe I'll make my way over there just after 5 and see if I hear some whispers.

      We will need to connect some dots for a potential new DC hire (assuming the interim doesn't get it). First, Caponi had no apparent Texas connections. He was a career defensive asst position coach at several schools, and lastly a CB coach at Iowa State, before being elevated to DC at UNT. He did have some DC time at a Dlll school in 2008-10, but nothing since. It's not like everyone didn't know there needed to be a change in DC for some time coming. Here are some starting criteria: -The new DC "should" have previous FCS or FBS DC experience...so a repeat learning-curve doesn't happen. -Texas ties for recruiting would be bonus points. -For a quick hire, I expect it to be someone Morris is already familiar with, no interview needed, only $ negotiated. -Are 2-year contracts a thing for Coordinators in FBS? If not, One-year only please, until we establish confidence. So, with all that in mind: -Find some FCS DCs that Morris worked with somewhere else. -A DC on an FBS staff where the HC has already been fired, or soon will be, but they had a good Defense! (a new HC will bring his own staff in). -A former head coach that has been recently recycled back thru DC to try again.
