Let me preface this by saying that one problem with a new election is that some of the people whose votes went through may not vote a second time. The problem is NOT with the votes cast; if there is, you will likely need a separate appeal for that.

HOWEVER, with Homecoming nearly upon us, what you can do is file with the election board ASAP (today) and request an extension on any ballot items not related to Homecoming. This will be easier than a re-vote and won't disenfranchise those that Flyer and co. worked so hard to get to vote the first time. Historically, revotes tend to have significantly lower turnout, and since we don't know how that would affect the outcome, it's best not to tempt fate.

Otherwise you can just let it go, hope everybody gets in a fax or paper vote, and try to appeal after the fact...but again, as those unable to vote were based on UNT classification, and not their stadium opinion, there's a good chance that the Election Board would dismiss an appeal...and there isn't enough solid evidence of vote tampering to use that as a basis for appeal (at least from the accounts I've read on here so far).

A student would need to do this. If you need any other info you can PM me, or ask Flyer for more info as he's got the more up-to-date election stuff...

Wouldn't dragging this out longer most likely not be a good idea? If this ends up being a near split (within a 50-100 votes), and an appeal is filed, would it have to go to another student body revote or could the SGA cast the deciding vote?

SGA voting would be a separate vote. "Dragging it out" as well as having a brand new vote would both be a gamble because you have no idea what the opinion of the cross-section is that didn't vote.

OR...you can leave it as is and see how it plays out.

The problem is, if the vote doesn't turn out the way you liked, and you file an appeal AFTER the election, the board may see fit to dismiss it as you could have filed with them at any time beginning with when the voting site started having problems. Then the reasoning behind the appeal would be pro-stadium, or biased, and they may need to dismiss based solely on that assertion...unless you get an "anti" person to file with you.
