Dodge had alot more to offer than Dickey did when back in 98. New stadium in 2010, a sustained athletic budget, and a much better recruiting class.

If TD goes winless, like I have said before, the athletic director will probably let TD go at the end of the season. Especially if the athletic fee vote passes.....

A second year coach having a winless season is catastrophic for a rebuilding team.

Think we wont go winless, we still haven't come within 30 points against any of our opponents.

I am trying to keep the faith, but 6 games into the season I would never have said that the closest we would have come to an opponent was 29 points. Surely we will have a game where we are within a couple of scores won't we?

Not a chance RV fires Dodge at the end of this season.

There should be no more discussion about firing Dodge! The only discussion should be, how can UNT pay $800,000 a year for a coach? When we get past that, then we can decide how to invest it, meaning on which coach. For all those who will want to say that spending a lot (and sadly that is actualy very little, relatively speaking) on a coach does not ensure wins, I will go ahead and say, it will give us a lot better chance than we have now.

For a start, we need 1,000 people to agree to pay $800. In a metropolitan area of over 6 million people, that is doable.

As bad as things have gotten, keep in mind how the Dickey regime started.

'98 = 3-8

'99 = 2-9

'00 = 3-8

Give Dodge some time to recruit some talent on defense. It will take time but hang in there folks..........

Are those the won-loss records or the range of how many first downs the team earned per game during Dickey's first three seasons?

Tapes of the Houston and UNLV games have been approved by the FDA as cures for insomnia.

Oh, God, UNLV...wasn't that Pohl's 1st year with us? I remember finding the timing odd. What was it, 72-0? I can't remember, probably because I tried to forget. I think there were a dozen of us left by the end (in the student setion).

What are the odds that someone else would do it?

I heard that Gretchen Bataille gets her way in reference to the athletic department..... But she doesnt have a clue about whats goes in football...

So RV is still the person who does the hiring and firing. We have six games left, which is half the season, alot can happen in that time.

We can be 6-6 or 0-12.... 0-12 seems like the possibility....

You just threw a cold bucket of water in my face! Can you imagine 0-12! I mean it is hard to fathom how this fanbase will feel as we go to 0-7 ,0-8, 0-9, 0-10, 0-11, 0-12. I mean it has already felt like two seasons! WOW

gmg! Please don't let that happen!

MOOT topic AGAIN.....

Do you, personally, plan on buying out Coach Dodge's contract??????? If you can't.....then do you really think NT will????? NT ain't that financially endowed. NT does not have the financial boosters like....let's say.....Clemson who let their coach go after going 3-3. Didn't NT buy out Coach Dickey's last year of his contract.....??? NT is kinda like a person who makes minimum wage with no savings in the bank and is faced with replacing an engine in his car.

Well, I guess, you can ask the Federal govt. for a bail out to fire a coach, pay for the remaining years on his contract and build a stadium and hire a million dollar a year coach (like smu).....and that, my friend, will solve all our problems. pony up dude.

That is affirmative, she does get her way. I don't want to be around her if this team goes 0-12 in year 2.

Give it 8 more weeks and you will see, because at this point, I have seen very little to suggest that 0-6 the rest of the season won't happen.

I often ask myself "self, was Dickey that good of a coach or did he move to a much easier Conference?"

With one exception the New Orleans Bowl would always give me my answer.

I hate to be Debbie Downer but I am not sure we were ever as good as we like to believe. What does that mean in regards to today's situation? I have no idea...

You make it sound like things began worse under Dickey than they have under Dodge. That's not the case. Dickey started out better, even as bad as those two and three win seasons were.

Dodge is 2-16 in his first 18 games with UNT, with wins over Louisiana-Monroe and Western Kentucky and eight losses of 30 or more points.

Dickey was 5-13 at the same point in his tenure, with wins over Boise State (twice), Nevada, New Mexico State and Texas Tech, and two losses of 30 or more points.

I'm in favor of giving Dodge time to prove himself, but using Dickey's start as an excuse for the current woes doesn't cut it.

UNT does have some big money alum, they just don't support the school because they got treated like crap the whole time they were in school. I bet you would be surprised at how many business majors we have making 150K+ out there. Or maybe its just me that thinks 150K is a lot of money :blink:

I have faith RV will give Dodge a simular ultimatium that Dickey got after an 0-5 start.

Dodge needs to win 2 games this season to keep his job.

Just remember, Dickey was in his fourth season when he started 0-5, not his second. I also believe that it was the last year of his contract.

RV was in his first year on the job when Dickey went 0-5 in the season and threatened his job security, it was reported that if Dickey lost the Homecoming game against Troy that RV was ready to part ways with Dickey, the rest was history.

RV expected better and was eager to make a change at that time. As of now, RV still expects better but it depends how eager he is to make a change at the Head Coaching position.

If there is a change, it won't come from RV.

Talk of firing Dodge is pure NUTS. Dodge will get the job done...he needs our support, not constant whining and second guessing. If he can't get it done in his contarct term, then discuissions with the "proper" folks will/can take place. BTW...that is not GMC.Com posters....Have faith...CORRECT, and you eill be rewarded.

GO MEAN GREEN! GO COACH DODGE! GO TEAM!

Got a good chuckle out of this one. The humor of this board makes my day of dealing with Government regulations a lot easier, (as you could imagine).

I DO like you Stuart (KRAM) Smalley!!

Just saying......reminds me of what my grand dad used to say about "stuck pigs squealing". Just saying.....

Amazing how so many folks want to see only the negative and can't put things in proper perspective. Ask yourself that "at the end of the day" is what you are so upset about or what you are worrying about REALLY THAT important? If so...good...worry some more...if not...let it go and enjoy the day.

I used to manage a competitive soccer team...and was a select/competitive club president and youth tournament director for many years...now I just referee (sure, I like being yelled at by ignorant parents...call me weird!)....

Every year I would have to ask some of my parents a question that was asked of me once by a very bright parent when I was getting a bit over-perplexed after losing a game....his simple question was:

"Tell me the score of the third game we played in the fall season two years ago". Obviously, I couldn't even remeber, off the top of my head, who we played, much less what the score was....POINT MADE!!!! It AIN'T THAT IMPORTANT...if it were I would definitely have remembered on the spot. SUre I could "look it up", but if it were THAT important i would know the answer instantly!!!!

Every year, I would ask that question a few times...and I have asked it recently of one youth soccer coach who was more than a bit "perplexed" during a game I was refereeing...certainly couldn't have been the great calls I was making....both my club parents and the coach "got it".....

Some folks on this board need to "get it" too, I think. Just saying........

NOW go out and smile and enjoy the day.... :rolleyes:
