It sounds as though one thing going for us in favor of the stadium is that alot of the students who seem opposed to it don't really seem enthusiastic enough to take the time to vote against it. I would think that only the diehard non-stadium supporters are gonna actually vote.

Does anyone know or have a ballpark figure on how many active students are involved in the athletics program? Players, trainers, etc, etc. You would think that would be a good boost in favor, as one would hope that all would take the time to vote for it.

Hell, it seems as though the group that is least lazy, taking the time to vote, will win.

SURELY, the athletics department is pushing at the very least, the football program to go vote.

I saw an article that said that the record turnout at NT was 10% and that this election could far exceed that.

I wouldn't be chiding the opposition and calling them too lazy to vote. In this case online voting makes it very easy to vote. Virtually all of the students either have their own computers or easy access to a campus computer.

If every student that comes to the games is moved to vote for the fee and we throw in a few hundred athletes then I believe that this will pass. Those opposing are notorious non-joiners so it's difficult to gauge just how strong they are. Even though they are individualists and don't care for the common good doesn't mean that they are apathetic. They may not have the numbers but those in favor can't bank on that. They must be treated as being a force so that the yesses keep working hard to get out their vote.

What disturbs me about this is the mugwump attitude that the administration is taking. Privately, they may say that they support the proposal but why is it the burden of the Athletics Department exclusively to exercise leadership? If this is for the long-term benefit of the university then be man enough (sorry Dr. Bataille, figure of speech) to say so.

Solid post. The administration does need to belly up to the table and help get things done.

She has been very quiet the past few weeks about this. I was expecting more administration support from those other than just RV.
