I think they all met with Coach and he shared his vision for how he will build his roster. This doesn’t mean they all will leave, although they probably will, but since he doesn’t know any of them well, I would guess he encouraged them to check out all their options.
Mason is the one I really hate to see leave. He just has that look of a ball player that knows how to score. It is in how he carried himself in the court and his build. I could be wrong, but I think he’s really got something. You don’t lead a major metro area in scoring without having something in your bag.
Did Hodge really run a short rotation? I’ve watched a lot of basketball and it seems most teams run about an eight man rotation unless they get into foul trouble or the injury bug strikes.
Just asking but how do you know we just approached one BB candidate? Granted I never heard anyone else mentioned but was jokingly told to join the athletic department if I wanted to know. The AD said I was too old.
I'm curious to see who stays/comes to Denton with Coach D-Rob as far as staff and assistants.
A few CSU fans mentioned some of his assistants may be on the list as his replacement. Another source says search firm is going outside for interviews...
Internally you could look at Kwanza Johnson with his connection to Robinson and 20+ years as an assistant or Steve Payne who has been a D1 head coach before. Both could potentially retain Parker (CSU grad) and Shunner (married to Cavs host Cayleigh Griffin), although I have a hard time believing Robinson wouldn’t want to take most of his staff with him.
Externally, there’s a long list of assistants with some connection to CSU that could make sense.
Jermaine Kimbrough
Jermaine Henderson
Rob Summers
Gates and Robinson both came out of left field with no prior connection to CSU, so I’m sure there will be a host of other names as well.
Cleveland State Conducts Zoom with Coaching Legend
Word on the street is that Bob Huggins had an initial Zoom with Cleveland State this past Friday morning. The former West Virginia / K-State / Cincinnati / Akron head coach has been out of coaching since 2023. Obviously the other popular name here is Mizzou assistant (and former Cleveland State assistant) Rob Summers. He was part of the staff that had a ton of success at CSU under Dennis Gates.
