Went to the coach's tonight at the Pourhouse. Not all tables in the big room were full, but pretty decent turnout. Hard to hear everything, and carry on conversations analyzing his comments at the same time. I did not hear it as I was a little late, but supposedly he told the team that there was a 6:30 AM meeting in the morning, and told the players that if that did not have any more passion for the game than those who showed up Saturday, then don't show up in the moring. (Somebody who heard that can correct me). One thing I did hear him say was that regardless who recruited the current players, they are his players, and his their coach. Again, I enjoy going, but hard to hear/understand. Sorry for a report without any more detail.

Thanks. Did he take questions? Did he mention anything about why his offense didn't seem to work after the first quarter?

Yes, he took questions. However, I could not hear them. I am told these questions are written before the show, and he more or less knows what is going to be asked. At the first show, it was the car dealers. At the last show, it was the NT 40 and they asked stadium questions. I think what you are after is did the audience in general get to answer questions, the answer is no, there is not an open mike to step up to and ask questions. He is very approachable after the show. At the one before the LSU, a guy at my table suggested he use Riley for kickoff/punt returns. He did say he was thinking about that. He did say the offense graded out better than what the score reflected, but I again I did not here the whole thing. He is very technical sometimes in his answer, not like George or Hank describing what happens (ha! ha!)

Thats not true... I know for sure that they give freedom to the questioners to ask what they want. at least that is how it was for RHA.

You were a little late to the show. Before you got there they had already announced that there was an open microphone up front for anyone that would lke to ask questions.

To elaborate on the offense grading out deal, he stated that through the First Quarter things were going well and 'feeling like they should' in this offense in terms of efficiency, tempo, distribution of the ball, etc. Then came the 2nd Quarter when we made them punt the first time and muffed it and Rice scored. Following that we drove the ball right back down the field only to gain 9 yards on a 4th and 10 from their 40 yard line or so, and that was the beginning of the snowball. The offense did grade out at 91% as a unit in the first half.

Well, they didn't with the NT 40.....want proof? Heard Dr. B tell Rick V. that the Coach answered those questions just like we told him. Have not seen anybody from the audience step up to the mike, and have missed one show. That is what I am basing this on, sorry we have different views.

The NT40 and Wheel Club questions were definitely softballs

Maybe the "answered like we told him" has to do with how they are portraying the stadium issue.

Don't be naive to think they don't converse and have a plan on how to address all the issues

Ah, yes, the old "These Aren't My Players" b.s. Funny how other coaches seem to go to other programs and win with "other coaches' players."

Lame excuse.

Besides, all we hear about now from the Dodge-or-Death defenders is that we're playing 20+ redshirt freshmen, freshmen, and sophomore. So, they are his players. He need to get off his backside and coach them - or at least hire some assistants who can.

If FIU beats us at home, the time for excuses will be over. That guy also doesn't have a full roster of "his players" and he just went out on the road and beat a MAC team that had come within two points of beating Fresno State the weekend before.

Enough excuses, already. Get the team ready, week after week, and start winning some games.

I have posted this and would not even come close to considering myself a "Dodge-or-Death" defender. The number is actually 2/3rds of the scholarship players, and my point is the youth of this team.

You still thinking we win this week?

They may have fixed the questions before hand for the show(s) you went to... but...

Let me put it this way... I got to step up to the mic and ask a question last time i was there. And no one told me what I could and couldn't ask. I guess this was the one you missed. So... I don't know what more "proof" you want than my own personal testimony.

<sigh> Yes.

I still just refuse to believe that no matter how bad we are, we can't possibly be worse than FIU. I know FIU beat us last year, but...dadgum! You look at their trainwreck on paper and it looks a whole lot worse than ours!

Maybe that makes me snobby towards FIU, but goodness sakes, they're pitiful on offense! Surely, surely...we can win this one at home. If we can't, we're seriously staring down the barrel of an 0-12 season. And, that didn't even happen in the worst of years when I was on campus in the early 90s.

Good for you, that was the one I missed. Glad you had your moment of fame (LOL). Based my personal testimony and "proof" on the other show. Have a good evening!

You misunderstood, or perhaps I did not state correctly what he meant. I have edited my post, please re-read. I apologize.

Lifer,

I have edited my post. I misstated what Coach Dodge said. Sorry I did not report correctly!

Again, gave my observation from when the "stadium questions" were asked, OK? I am not trying to lie or create any controversy, sure do not appreciate you insentuations. This is just how I viewed it, nothing else. Wrong or right! I tell you, I will go ahead and say it, your absolutely right on this one, happy now. You win and You got your way! Bet your one of those people who is not always right, but is never wrong.

It sure would be nice to have interviews with Deloach. He is an experienced college coach and should be media savvy. Why doesn't he give interviews? I know Mendoza hid behind the ropes but what about Deloach?

Big programs have their Coordinators available, why not here in Denton?

Dodge has a rule against coordinators and assistants giving interviews without authorization. It's not unheard of... Parcells had the same rule when he ran the Cowboys.
