Defense

It's easy to blame the defense but wake up folks...NT's offense threw interceptions twice within our 20 yard line, fumbled punts/kickoffs returns gave Rice the ball within our 20 yard line several times. Penalties halted a couple of drives....it seemed like we played well in the first half then boom...the turnovers started leaving Rice short yardage to score. Our offensive line looked good, especially the first half....didn't I see or hear one of our JC OL played in the game at one point. Hopefully they might lose weight, get in condition and provide help on our undersized OL.

DaWaylon Cook might be the answer at returning kickoffs and punts...he looked good the few times he handled the ball. Cam Montgomery looked good on several runs scoring twice. Nwigwe and Roberson looked good on defense tackling all over the place. Karty Agbottah had several good tackles...It didn't help that we lost Joseph Miller in the second half. We desparately need DT's that can press the opponents backfield and disrupt plays.

hey oldtimer,

they still gave up 42. We need LB's that have a nose for the ball and make people pay. #42 can play. #44 does not play down hill. He makes tackles 10 yards down the field. He looks good in a uniform but that is about it. LSU,Kstate, Ran flat at him and over him. The DT's were doing their job drawing the double team and the full back from LSU just blew him up. We are hurting for a middle linebacker that will flat hammer people.

greenblooded43, that might be the best oberservation I've seen posted on this board this year! #44 makes too many tackles 10 yards downfield, and he can not cover anyone. As far as a MLB that will hammer people...we have one, they just need to put him on the field. We also need someone with the character to become the leader of this defence.

OLd Timer the game was OVER at half. UNT scores 20 with no turnovers and is down freakin 36 points. One interception what deflected and another Roberson let the DB strip the ball from him.

Offense is the least of our concerns.

Scoring only 20, none mind you after the first quarter, against a very average Rice defense is a huge concern.

Uh, your kidding yourself by saying that. Offense was shut down completely in the 2nd half.

University of Texas scored 24 points against the weak Rice defense in the first half. UNT scores 20??? But UNT is down 36 points at half.

What gives? Second half adjustments made by all Rice and LSU (defense) have hurt our second half performance.

Todd Dodge is not coaching against high school coordinators. Half time adjustments are huge.

Are you serious? How are you supposed to play down hill when the opposing team is throwing the ball down field every down? He was prolly making plays 10 yds down field becuase they were throwing the ball 10 yards down field. Just a guess. At least someone was making some tackles, didn't see to many others making plays.

I think the qb had 2 or 3 td's rushing i guess that is not the mlb's job. Also, what about Lsu's fullback blocking him that wasn't passing
