Running Game

Despite all our problems, we actually have a good running game. And our offensive line, the black eye last year, is much improved this year. Montgomery and Dunbar consistently have nice runs and great average yards per carry stats. With our terrible special teams and sub-par defense, Dodge might do well to focus the offense on our running backs and the running game. It keeps the other team's offense off the field and eats the clock.

i like him and think he will be a really good corner in a year or two, but is royce hill really the second best option at corner?

5.2 yds per carry tonight.

Maybe Dodge needs to look at simplifying this offense... More conservative, run the ball more but keep those pass plays in there to keep the defense honest. At the very least it will burn the clock and keep the game close.

We seem to have consistently good running game in each game despite poor plays in other areas. I kept thinking during the game yesterday, "run the damn ball!"

We've been there and done that. Yes, the running game has done well but much of that is because of the passing game. If we ran 60-70% of the time they'd simply load the defense to stop the running game. Then we could break out our old familiar chant...THROW THE BALL!!!
