This is the worst defense I have ever seen!! It's bad enough we can't make a stop (or that Rice may score 90+ points and not punt during the game), but our players look like they don't even know the basic fundamentals.

I'm pretty sure they don't. Where do we get these "football players?" I'm trying out next year. I played in middle school so I have just as good a chance of making it as anyone else right??

It IS hard to be mad at Darrien Williams for that late hit out of bounds. At least he was playing full speed until the play was over. That call is always a judgement call. It's like every time the defender gets close to the side line they must tip toe because they are walking on thin ice.

Furthermore, am I the only one who thinks our conditioning might be a problem.

The reason I ask is: Back when we were winning conference championships and our defense was punishing offenses it seems like they had energy to spare and played to whistles and always tried to force turnovers. Our defense now is not swarming... not playing to whistles. I know it is tough when you are getting jobbed, but I really want to know how we regressed so quickly on defense.

So how many points does the D have to give up to say Mendoza was not the problem last year?

Then the question is begged - is it then the players? And if so, is this still a product of the players Dickey left behind or is Dodge's recruiting also at fault?

Well, it's obvious it's not DeLoach's problem.

At least he has our players in positions to make plays...

I don't know if I have ever been more discouraged than I am today. And, this is occurring at one of the most critical times for this program (stadium vote).

56 points in one half against a non-BCS team is just stunning.

Pitiful arm tackling, nobody can wrap up players they are all trying to just grab at them.

It's time to end the HIGH SCHOOL football coach experiment.

This has got to be the worst defense I have ever seen.

Uh, the defense is coached by a man with many years of D1 experience.

True.

Plus, the O was doing okay until the D starting handing over TDs in the 2nd quarter. So, in terms of the coaches being "good enough", they are. But I'd say a lot of what's happened tonight probably rests on the player's shoulders.

I think there's plenty of suck to go around for everybody tonight.

Very, very true. That is exactly why we should not give up on NT football or Coach Dodge and his staff. I'm at the $1000 level in the MGC now but I'll be raising it soon.
