Is anyone surprised in the least by this article? If so, what rock have you been living under the last several years? And people wonder why the athletes think they can get away with "Stuff"? Do tell.........

I graded papers and homework from lots of athletes. Out of curiosity, I paid a little extra attention to them during tests. I caught a ton of people cheating, but never a single athlete. If someone else did their homework, I'd expect they'd perform poorly on tests, which didn't happen. Unless they're extremely good at cheating, or just do it in classes other than Pol. Sci., I think UNT has set up a damned good study system for its athletes, including the mandatory study halls.

I also believe I only ever had 1 athlete make less than a C out of all the classes I TAd for. Of course, most of the classes were 1000-level classes, but since those are the ones everybody takes, I would expect to see cheating there before anywhere else.

I agree...years ago I was a TA at Oklahoma State...had plenty of athletes in class...especially golfers...no problem ever with cheating that i could detect! It's not this area where "some" athletes seem to think the "world owes them a living"....those that have classroom "challenges" often never attend class...at least not on a regular basis!

I agree that UNT does a good job trying to help athletes be successful in the classroom. However, part of that is determined on the recruiting trail when "student-athletes" are actually recruited. CHARACTER counts in all walks of life and in everything one does. Recruit "character" as well as athletic ability and you win both on and off the field.
