Awesome. In certain previous situations, when a dedicated fee was created, or when a SSF department received independent funding, the SSF committee or admin or both kept the hourly fee just as high and used the excess to throw money into pet projects (I was there for one instance and was told of others).

Very cool to have the reduction as part of the referendum. I wonder how many students realize how lucky they are to have that addendum there. Whose idea was it? Students should be made aware of the person whose idea that was, as he/she was obviously looking out for their interests.

I'm sad now that I realize that some people pursuing a college degree may not put 2 and 2 together and realize that "$10 increase + $3 decrease = $7 increase".

This was posted by a student on the "against" group on facebook.

"according to the news, the stadium would be funded by a $300 fee added onto our tuition. i have more important things to spend $300 on than a stadium for a team that can't even win a single game during the season. sure, college football is about recruiting, but with our track record of losing, no decent football player in their right mind is going to trade in an opportunity with OU or any other big name university to play in a new stadium with a sucky football team."

According to facebook, this student is supposed to graduate in 2010, so it wouldn't even apply to her at all. $300 is also inaccurate since the increase is only $7, it would be $210(30x7) per year. Where is all this bad information coming from? What irks me is that these are the people who are going to be making up most of the "no" votes. People who don't know anything about what they're voting on.
