Actually, I didn't think it was that bad. A couple mistakes, the fee will be $10, not $7. And no, the UT Board of Regents won't have a say in it, I'm sure she meant UNT BOR.

It seemed the real "story" here was the opposition, which isn't doing well in getting supporters.

She made it sound as if there was significant opposition.

A fair and balanced report would have also mentioned the amount of support for the stadium.

Does this shock you? It doesn't me. The news is basically negative and bad news. If there is negative angle to something, they will probably run with it.

And unless she's a first semester freshman, she probably wouldn't be asked to pay for it ever.

If the increase goes into effect after 2001, many current students won't be asked to help. At least not when they sign up for classes.

Funny that that story would follow a Honda commercial that DFW drivers want more "green." I want a LEED Green stadium.

Isn't a $10 fee replacing a $3 fee the same as a $7 increase. Instead of being critical we should be happy to be getting local sports coverage.

      They cancelled out Navy. Now without SMU but with Army, we have 14 football schools and 13 basketball (and most other Olympic sport schools). In my opinion, we should be selective with any new programs that bring football. We're already a conference with a random allotment of schools with few big rivalries. Market size should be lower on the priority list for future expansion, with more focus on competiveness of programs and potential to create more rivalries or reignite old ones. If we focus on expanding the Olympic sport-only programs, I think we should go east and target some of the A-10 schools. If we are looking for schools that will bring all sports, look west, and try to grab up some quality MWC programs before they give any life to a rebirthed Pac-12 (if we aren't invited to it).

      Is D1 Split Coming Soon?

      The more I think about the FBS future, the more I think the SEC/Big10 (Top40) will split away from the rest. They will still play OOC inter-division games with other FBS (they need their 7 home games), but their playoff will be exclusive. In that case where the Big12 and remnants of the AAC fall out of the top tier, then we should be proactive to join their tier with them, say Tier 2. Assemble a AAC/MWC/P2 combo conference. Something SMU2006 actually suggested> West - Wazzu, Oregon State, Boise State, San Diego State, Fresno State, CO State, Air Force East - North Texas, UTSA, Tulane, Memphis, USF, Navy, Army
