Take away big plays and this game could be close. Team is playing hard. Offensive can throw but no running game as usual.

north texas had over 200 yards rushing against tulsa....i wouldn't say no running game as usual. yes, they are struggling tonight, but that hasn't been the case so far this year.

Take away the huge and explosive plays and this could have been a close game. Penaties at crucial times hurt as did a few drops. LSU blitz packages were tremendous. They out chessed matched us tonight on several big offensive series. Running game cannot get us a first down in 2 or 3 in short, never.

If you're a team that can blitz all game long, then that should be your gameplan when playing us.

0 sacks. Blitzes weren't that great. When's the last time we had that kind of protection against a top ten team?

True, they didn't get any sacks, but they rushed the pass many, many times.

That will happen to every team lsu plays this year

Hmmm. Gee, that's novel idea. Anyone know how to do that? I mean, on the current coaching staff anyway?

Now, as others have pointed out to me on this board, I'm not a football coach. It's true. Therefore, my analysis may be skewed here. After all, I'm the only poster on this site who isn't a coach. However, I'll give it a shot.

The way to "take away big plays," in my admittedly non-coaching eyes, is to:

(1) Have your defensive backs actually cover opposing receivers,

(2) Tackle the ball carriers - whether they are handed or thrown the ball,

(3) And, sprinkle in a few guys on the special teams units who can tackle opposing punt and kick returners

...and stuff.

Again, I'm no coach...but....

that makes two of us that aren't coaches but wouldnt it make sense to punt as far away from that little fast bastard as possible. Punt it at the damn band if you have to.

By the way, not to highjack the thread, but why do all football teams who were bullied into giving up their Indian-themed names default to something including Wolves, Hawks, and Storms. I mean, does the NCAA pull them aside and say, "Looky here, NSU, the term 'Redmen' won't do. Your punishment is to choose a name from among three things you may see while out hiking in the wild - the wolf, the hawk, and the rainstorm. Choose, racists!"

      Morris, Texada and Ward Jr. Set to Attend American Football Kickoff

      IRVING, Texas – Head football coach Eric Morris along with senior CB Ridge Texada and WR Damon Ward Jr. will represent UNT at the 2024 American Athletic Conference Kickoff, held at Lowes Arlington. Twenty-eight student-athletes are scheduled to attend this year’s Kickoff, which will be held in Arlington for the second consecutive year. Media sessions will begin at 2 p.m. CT on Monday and will continue Tuesday morning with press conferences with the 14 head coaches. The results of The American’s preseason media poll will be announced at 8 a.m. CT (9 a.m. ET) and Commissioner Tim Pernetti will deliver his remarks Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. CT (9:15 a.m. ET). In addition to the Tuesday press conferences, student-athletes and coaches will be available for breakout sessions during specified times on Tuesday and upon request during their scheduled Monday-afternoon block. And for the first time, The American is inviting fans to participate in the annual event to start the college football season. A limited number of fans will be able to experience the 2024 Kickoff in-person to gain unprecedented access to players and coaches.       Should We Recruit in Japan?

      In Europe, players start being treated as professionals from a young age. When you join an academy over there, you do everything at the academy. It's like being in college here. They live, eat, do their schooling at the academy on top of playing the game and this can start in elementary school. Getting a player from Europe means getting somebody who's been living the lifestyle of a college student for over a decade. I doubt it's to that level for football but for basketball (and other sports) it is. I have family over there and knew a guy in an academy for judo (France regularly has olympic medalists in judo) who lived like that in middle school. Away from family and following a strict daily schedule to progress in the national ranks. Again, getting at least basketball players from over there would mean getting guys mature far beyond their age.

      Well, Memphis is going to be tough this year as we play them on the road, but no FIU or Navy on the schedule and no Earle on the roster, so 12 - 0!!
