I used to prefer Voertman's to the Bookstore on most occassions as a student. This just proves my allegiance was correct all along. ;)

I think the only amusing part of your response is "get permission to use the logo". If the exes would grant permission, I would gladly pay ShopmeanGreen $18.00 for such a great cap. Plus he's an alumni, and I'd much rather give him the money.

I will buy one also. That would be a good hat.

Another reason why Voertman's is better than the UNT Bookstore? They are an independent entity, driven solely by supply and demand, customer relations, etc. If they screw up, they go out of business.

If the Bookstore sucks, it takes a lot for their contract to be nullified.

Interesting point, which I was trying to hint at before:

The UNT Bookstore's contract REQUIRES that they have a committee set up for student, faculty, and staff complaints, ideas, demands, etc. They have been in violation of that contract for years. Look around and you'll see that the NT Daily ran a story about it, the Staff Council, SGA, and Faculty Senate were all informed of it, and SGA voted in favor of a resolution (on behalf of the students) that the Bookstore fulfill their contract and set up the committee. The Bookstore's response was that we could form it on our own and send in suggestions. Of course, that's as useful as a letter to the manager. The CONTRACT REQUIRES otherwise, and neither the Bookstore nor the admin have been willing to require that that segment of the contract be honored.

IMO, that portion of the legal documents is its own contract with the students, faculty, and staff. Regardless of whether UNT as an entity wants the Bookstore around, I am of the opinion that the rest of the community can easily put them out of business if they rally enough to do so. Maybe if a boycott was to begin, and sales were to plummet, the UNT Bookstore might begin to honor its effin' contract.

I buy a lot of stuff from their website.

I like that it's independently owned.

Voertman's art supplies are also really high quality at low prices. Even after I moved to GP, I'd stock up there every time I was in town. Crap, I'm running low, no Voertman's in Phoenix :P
