How long ago was this co-worker released from the asylum? Does he drool and wring his hands?

Posted (edited)

He got out of TSU (the asylum) about 6 years ago!!!

I told him it would be nice to open at home with a 65 to 0 win!

I have a co-worker that thinks TSU would take down NT by 21 points.

I have several family members that think the same thing, unfortunately. By the way, speaking of Tarelton State, they did beat 1-AA Stephen F. last year. And looking up their record I didn't realize they went 0-11 in '07. Hard to believe that football program, considering how tough they were when we were in the SLC, has fallen that far these days?

They were winless in 07 and he thinks they could beat a FBS team by 3 tds? What kind of Kool-Aid do THEY have??

Tasty, are you really that negative about the program? Hope not. I do not see any "roll over and quit" in the Mean Green under Coach Dodge.

Rodeo team !!--- that is an idea.

If we could sign their rodeo team (especially those that Steer wrestle) maybe we could tackle someone before they reach the end-zone.

---I am beginning to wonder if our defense can't stop folks that play a rather normal (non Spread) offense because they just never see it in practice. I have noticed TexTech has a similiar problem of allowing a lot of points and they play a similiar offense... who knows...?? I am tired of seeing 40+ on the opponent's side of the scoreboard. At least in TxTech's case their offense is outscoring their opponent....usually. .

---SMU just went to that style of offensive play and what happens.... their defense gives up 56 points to Rice... (not a super power).

Inquiring minds want to know....

Being that I am a Tarleton alum, I was excited when I first read this thread.

I thought North Texas might have scheduled Tarleton for an early season basketball game (as we are known to do).

On to the topic at hand, Tarleton would not beat North Texas. We would hang close early, but ultimately the scholarship difference would spell doom (36 vs. 85).

Tarleton has been consistently ranked in the Top-25 of Division II for the last decade, and we are considered to be on the shortlist for Southland Conference expansion. We blew out our last opponent (Southeastern Oklahoma) 51-10. They are from the weak half of the conference, so it is not surprising. Ask anyone who follows D2 and FCS (IAA) will tell you that there is a very small gap between the D2 elites and FCS schools. At this point, any of the LSC big three (Tarleton, Abilene Christian, West Texas A&M) could be favored to win almost any game in the Southland Conference. We compete with these schools for the same kinds of players, and bring in the same IA transfers.

Coach McElroy (from UNT) seems to love transfers. We are a transfer heavy team with players from- Arkansas, Clemson, NM State, Arizona State, SMU, Texas, Tulane, U Buffalo, Georgia Tech, TCU, Oklahoma, and UNT (Robert Payne)

Our offense is pretty well balanced and scores and average of 40 - 50 points per game.

You should consider Tarleton as much of (or more of) a threat than Texas State or any other school in the Southland.

Again, I guarantee that Tarleton would not blow you out by 21. I am fairly confident that we would not win, but we would give you a good scare during the first half.
