Opening Line Vs. Tulsa

I mean, I understand we gave the Vegas mob bosses no reason to make this spread any closer, but geeze... you would think our offense would matchup well with Tulsa's and it would be a shootout.

I wonder what the O/U will be.

Well I guess Tulsa's win this past weekend over UAB was what 21 points? Where was that game played? UAB has basically the same season we did last year. I did see that Tulsa's defense showed up in the second half, as they trailed 22-21 at the half.

Remember, the betting line is not strictly an evaluation of the game or the teams. It is also an evaluation of the gamblers. All the bookies want is the same amount of money bet on each team, and they set the line to do that. The question is not, how much better is Team A than Team B. The question is, how many points do we have to give to get half the betters to bet on Team A and half on Team B. Considering UNT's current reputation, this is not a surprise.

Look at it this way: How many points would you have to receive to bet on a team that last year was 2-10 and had the worst defense in the nation, and managed only 6 points in this year's opener while giving up 45 to a team with a weak defense last year and is expected to finish in the bottom half of its conference this season? Meanwhile, the opponent has bowl ambitions and rolled up over 40 points in week 1. And do we need to remember what happened the last time these two met at Fouts?

20 points is not surprising.

If UNT is insulted by that line, good. I'd like to seem them feel insulted. And if the team believes the line is undeserved and disrespectful, then prove it.

North Texas will be the under dog in all the OOC games.

So what. I do believe this team will knock off one or more

of the OOC games this year.

As far as Tulsa, I would expect Tulsa to follow K-State's

lead in developing their offensive and defensive

game plans.

Lots of blitzing, turning the DE's loose for the defense.

Keep the pressure coming all game long, and do not let

the Vizza have any time to pick up the receivers.

For the offfense, pick on the young NT CB's, and use

their TE alot.

At least a line was set. The line is high, but it will go down if the money goes on NT. It will go up if the money goes with the Golden Showers. In my opinion, which does not make a difference. The line is just about right.

If that's Tulsa's game plan then Dodge should dust off the DD playbook. Now think for just a minute before you tar and feather me. Wouldn't the patented DD "drawplay" work? Did I just say what I think I said?

Then again, we shouldn't have to tell the head coach or offensive coordinator what plays to run in obvious situations. They should know what to do, right?
