I am sure that people noticed but it was really surprising to me as well as comforting at the same time. Four other schools (off the top of my head) had their new head coach debut this week and they went as follows:

Baylor: Art Briles - Loss to Wake Forest 13 - 41

ATM: Mike Sherman - Loss to AkState 14 - 18

SMU: June Jones - Loss to Rice 27 - 56

Michigan: Rich Rodriguez - Loss to Utah 23 - 25

I am glad that other coaches at the big conference level experienced the same thing that Dodge experienced last season, and maybe even worse since 2 of the four were considered upsets. I have to remember that this is still only his second season as head coach and there are so many changes this season too, esp. with the new defense and working with Deloach.

I would take a season opening blowout against Ou and K state over an upset loss any day.

Good points.

TD having to adjust to a new defense is from his own doing. I can't say that he's going to get a pass from me just b/c he f'ed up the first time around with his selection of a DC or failure to make a change sooner. Although, in some ways, I'm glad it worked out so that we got Deloach.
