Socialist... well before that we had people saying he was a Muslim from a Medrasa (terrorist school) and would not say the Pledge or wear a flag pin and had taken the Oath of office using the Koran.... ( none of that is true ) ... Tell the truth..

I give no credence to Internet rumors at all, but let's set the record straight.

He did not refuse to to say the pledge at a Democratic candidate event, but he did stand there not singing and without his hand over his heart during the national anthem. Not a horrible thing, he has that right, but not really a Kodak moment when running for President.

He did stop wearing a flag pin, saying that it has become a substitute for "real patriotism." LAME.

I know of nobody of who actually said Obama took the oath on a Koran, but there was a Congressman who was sworn in on Thomas Jefferson's Koran.

And is Obama a socialist? Ehh, he has policies that are socialistic particularly when it comes to poverty, free trade, and taxes. This is really no different from most Democrats. He certainly uses class warfare rhetoric.

While I agree with SE66's statement and Godwin's Law is always fun...and while I interpret the forum rules MUCH more liberally than the other mods...this, unfortunately, has to be done.

Cerebus posted THIS back on August 8th, 2008. The CliffNotes of said post stated there would be two-week bans for the next people to mention anything related to Nazis. I'm not going to don't do anything hardcore like a two-week ban without running it by Cerebus, but I am inclined to put you guys on probation for a minimum of a day or two with a possible extension.

We are in Iraq because Saddam would not let the UN inspectors in, no one lied to congress, the vast majority voted for it. The sad part is that the Democratic party saw public opinion swing and instead of sticking to their guns they jumped ship and made up excuses, and stuck the republicans as a scape goat to wedge a gap between them and the Republican party. I know you don't get that sorry, but if you think Bush lied to congress you better believe if the democratic congress truly felt lied to they would have had Bush in the impeachment process so fast we would have heard the sonic boom in Texas. Fact is you are pushing democratic rhetoric yourself.

Sounds to me like somebody got Obama confused with Keith Ellison, I don't know who. The way you made your statement initially led me to believe that McCain's campaign or the Republican party were making these accusations.

I can paste all the quotes from Democrats before the war when we were all still upset about 9/11 and said "Enough" to all nations sponsoring terrorism, but that has been done ad nauseum.

No, I am not implying Iraq had anything to do with 9/11, but they most certainly sponsored terrorism and Saddam Hussein and his government needed to be taken out. The intelligence on Iraq's WMD program was presented to the President and the Congress (they have their own intelligence committee). Other foreign intelligence agencies agreed with our assessment, and few members of Congress opposed the invasion.

When WMDs weren't found, the Democrats saw it as a political opportunity and have done their best to hamper the war effort: attempting to cut off funding, calling Marines murderers, undermining the President in public. The opposition to Bush has bizarelly morphed into 9/11 conspiracy theories, accusations of pocketing oil money, "Bush lied", etc.

If any of this was true, Bush would have been impeached, and I would have supported it. But they all know an impeachment process would dig up evidence of their own intelligence briefings and consent to the invasion, so they continue to play the political game and hope to ride the wave of upset voters to the White House.

I thought we were talking about Palin v. Biden, not Palin v. Obama. Obama and McCain are both currently in the Senate, so either way, it'll be the 4th time...the only reason to consider the "executive experience" of Biden or Palin is if a) McCain keels over or Obama gets shot (along with all other, less likely, possibilities).

Otherwise, they'll end up running the Senate and "other duties as defined by the President", for the most part.

Hell, Bush was a governor, and gave a ton of leeway for Cheney to do his thing...so now does the debate become one of delegation?
