I don't see how you can say she is unqualified to be VP, of the two major party ticket runners (McCain, Obama, Biden, Palin), she is the only one with executive branch experience.

As for pandering to the female voters, DUH! Of course it's an attempt to attract female voters. He also picked her because Republicans are still uneasy about his conservative credentials.

VP choices are always made to enhance the ticket. Obama chose Biden to prop up his weak foreign policy experience, Kerry picked Edwards to help carry the South, Gore picked Lieberman to get the Jewish Florida vote, Clinton picked Gore because the guy is squeaky clean, Carter picked Mondale to help carry the upper midwest.

She is the GOVERNOR OF ALASKA! I think that qualifies for some experience in running "something". Interesting choice. Did you notice the difference in her first speech as VP choice over Biden's first shot out out the box (no pun intended)? Biden went with the "attack dog" mode instantly...not so much with Palin. Just saying.......

Ive learned that being pre-emptive is very American. Clearly Biden is a better American.

Did you know Alaska used to be owned by the Russians?

Election is OVER...Obama might as well give up...The Republicans have now secured the Eskimo vote and 2 electoral votes from Alaska! It's over!

And to my friend Coffee and Tea....no where did I get "personal" with you. You need to think "sarcasm"...even the British can recognize humor when they see it...Hmmmmm....even Everton fans. Since I am a "soccer" guy, I thought you could see through it all...sorry to hurt your feelings. I should have known about the "feelings" over fun...over facts...thing with Democrats. I would have responded on the "other" thread, but you got us locked out of that one. Keep it coming Coffee and Tea...I am smiling right now, as it truly is fun to post on this board....just remember....at the end of the day...we are all members of the MEAN GREEN NATION! GO MEAN GREEN! Heck, I even thought Quoner called me a racist one time and told the Admins to ban the guy...then I got a PM from one of the Admins who asked me to go back a re-read his post. Sure enough, not so much and really not that "personal". So, I give you the same advice...you will live longer and you will have oh so much more fun on this board! It is just a "board" after all...now UNT Football, that's serious stuff!

GO MEAN GREEN!

---Three times during my lifetime (I am old..LOL) the elected President did not finish their term ---Roosevelt, Kennedy and Nixon who was basicly forced out of office. There is high possibility she could become President...... If you really think she is up to dealing with somethings crazy world leaders, war, and defense issues .... then vote McCain and the Gov. of Alaska ---who two years ago was a mayor of some Alaskan town whose largest issues was dealing with garbage, police, water systems, and fire departments ... She has been gov. less than two years and may have never even been inside of the U.S. Senate.... much less presiding over it which is primary duty of the VP.

---By all means vote for her* if you think she is qualified to with deal with China, Russia, the Middle East, and all other problems we have.

--This is just plain nuts.

* this not about being a female issue ---Condy Rice, Hillery Clinton, plus some others are tough enough and informed enough to do it... I really doubt she she is.

How exactly is Obama qualified to the same things? His qualifications are even or less than Palin. He does one speech in Berlin and then he all of sudden is foreign policy expert?? He was forced by pressure to go to the Middle East.

His foreign policy sounds good to Europe because it is very much socialist which they love.

Palin was in an elected office 5 years before Obama began his political ascent with the help of the Chicago Machine.

You know you are arguing against Palin for the same reason that others argue against Obama, right? You might want to pick what attack angle you want to use against the opposing VP candidate when the same goes for your PRESIDENTIAL candidate.

Issues? What issues? When do we start talking issues and differences on positions between what the candidates want to do IF they should become President and Vice President? And, when I ask "we" I mean the entire country. This board is just a mirror image of what's going on "out there". NO ONE can be fully prepared for what might come under their "watch" as President of the United States. You pick your candidate and hope they stay true to the values and ideas that made you want to vote for them in the first place. From what I can tell, the "sides" on this board are pretty well drawn...no one, I believe, will change no matter what real facts emerge or what positions either candidate takes. You are either for what Obama stands for or you are for what McCain stands for and where you hope to see the country head in the next four years.

It should be fun sparring here from time to time as the campaigns progress. Let the games begin!

What I do know about Palin-

-She's sooooo hot!

-She hunts moose

-Her nickname is Barracuda

Sounds like a good choice to single handedly hunt down Osama Bin Laden.

For the record, I kinda like McCain's choice.

And for the record, Obama should have taken Hillary as his VP pick.

Subtract 20 years and she'd be my ideal woman.

you never know she just might be able to teach you a thing or two.

--Really ---Two years ago he was not the mayor of as small town in the wilderness seeing that the trash was picked up and that the water ran.... He was a US Senator.... and before that he was in the Senate of Illinios.. a very large State... He also has a very good education from a Ivy League school, although I think that is over rated..

Socialist... well before that we had people saying he was a Muslim from a Medrasa (terrorist school) and would not say the Pledge or wear a flag pin and had taken the Oath of office using the Koran.... ( none of that is true ) ... Tell the truth..

---It seem that some realize they can't defeat him with the truth so they just make up lies and hope people will believe them. Calling people names sometimes works... it worked in Germany during the 1930's.

so Obama's who collective people, his Berlin speech says people of the world, wanting to increase taxes to pay for others healthcare, raise taxes on the already overtaxed rich is not a socialist policy?

To each and their own I guess. I would rather leave my money alone and take care of myself, rather than depend on the government who has bankrupted Social Security.

Also nice try at a little potshot on 1930's Germany. Where was the name calling? Just look at Obama's views particularly the views that won him the Democratic nomination before he went running to the center after clinching the nomination?

Serious question - how can you handle the travel (since there is usually more than the prez) and overall demands of the VP when being tasked with the raising of a young child with Down Syndrome.

I'm not asking because it is a big concern of mine or most of us, but it was raised by a lot of working moms I spoke with today.

Yes, but how often does a US Senator from Illinois affect your daily life? As a mayor and governor, she made decisions that directly affected the lives of her constituents. Local politics affect our lives the most. The federal government didn't place a stoplight in an area where it will cause accidents, the city did. She's dealt with the oil corporations and corruption in the state government, cutting gov't spending.

Three words. "Global Poverty Tax". Google it. And I'm taxed enough already, thanks.

I'll make a note on the "Germany in the 1930's" comment. It makes me think of that period when people are moved to TEARS by a POLITICIAN, much less a stadium full of people like that. It unnerves me, to be brutally honest.

She's the VP candidate anyways. I don't think McCain will die in office but if the worst happens, I'd be alright with her running the show, more comfortable with that than Biden or Obama.

She could always go with the Kelly Preston method. You know, pretend it doesnt exist.

But seriously, I have no idea. I imagine she'll make it work. Personally, I think it's a non-issue.
