The TCU men's basketball team has released its non-conference schedule. The Horned Frogs begin the season as part of the eight-team ESPN Charleston Classic in Charleston, S.C. It marks the first time since 2000-'01 that TCU will start the season in a tournament.

TCU visits Texas Tech in its final non-conference matchup on Jan. 6.

Nov. 14-16 at ESPN Charleston Classic (also featuring College of Charleston, Clemson, Temple, Western Michigan, East Tennessee State, Hofstra and a team TBA).

Nov. 19 vs. Nebraska

Nov. 26 vs. SMU

Nov. 29 vs. St. Gregory's

Dec. 3 at Colorado

Dec. 6 vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

Dec. 8 vs. Wichita State

Dec. 22 at Louisiana Tech

Dec. 30 vs. Colgate

Of relevance to us....the fact that the Charleston tournament has one team TBA. Could that still be us?????

From the Clemson site:

The tournament pairings for the Charleston Classic will be announced Wednesday. Other teams participating in the tournament are College of Charleston (host), East Tennessee State, Hofstra, SIU-Edwardsville, Temple, Texas Christian, and Western Michigan.

Six at home out of eight games, not bad, and some nice matchups for attracting fans too. We should hire their schedule guy!

      Getting Close To Being Ranked (Army, Navy)

      It's wonderful being 4-1, but there's a reason we are the second lowest ranked 1-loss team at #73 (Eastern Michigan also at 4-1 is #82). 3 of our 4 wins (not really counting the SFA win which ironically may be one of the better wins of the 4) are against teams with a combined record of 5-12 who have collectively been outscored 456-196. Of course, some of those points against are ours, so there's that. No win on the road is easy, but next up is #109 FAU at 2-3. Hopefully we take care of business in Boca, but we will really find out about the mettle of this team over the following three games with Memphis, Tulane and Army. Let's do this.

      Probably waiting to see what the four teams they are considering for the two channels do this weekend (not sure if any are on byes). Better matchup gets the Deuce. GMG

      "Where Are The Fans?"

      Most casual fans don't understand the slimy anticompetitive mafia like business of revenue college sports. I find it ironic that when a few players get a more fair share of the economic pie that is the bridge too far for long time diehards. Most alumni came to the school for an education in spite of other school with better athletic programs. And unlike TCU and SMU, their parents probably did not have funds to give their college graduate a head start financially so that by the time they are 30 they have 10k of disposable income to throw at college athletics. The program has been bad for most of my life. And the City of Denton has always wanted to be more of a bedroom community than a college town. I really didn't know how unfortunate that was until I spent time in college towns. Denton of 25 years ago was almost hostile to North Texas Athletics
