*UPDATE*

DENVER (AP) - Three men who authorities initially feared were plotting to assassinate Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention are facing only gun charges—signaling they never posed a real threat. A federal law enforcement official in Denver said the three men and woman arrested on Sunday are not expected to be charged with making threatening statements, conspiracy or other national security-related crimes.

It's possible—but unlikely—that additional charges could come later, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the charges have not yet been filed.

DENVER (CBS4) ― CBS4 has now learned at least four people are under arrest in connection with a possible plot to kill Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech in Denver.

CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass reported one of the suspects told authorities they were "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a ... rifle … sighted at 750 yards."

I'll never vote for the man, but this is repugnant.

Pretty sad that people will plan things like this. But it is not shocking. In fact, with the racism in this country that still exists we might see more things like this as there is a lot of hate still in this country.

One guy also told me (not sure if it's for real, but I wouldn't be shocked) that the KKK or a spokesman or something said they'd take him out if he got elected.

Lots of need for security over 4 years if he gets in...there are a lot of sick f---ers out there. He's going to be wearing a bullseye throughout his tenure if he wins.

Might as well throw some bomb-carrying griffins, a unicorn that shoots lasers out of its horn, and a Dodo bird in there as well because in KRAM's world, the pit bull won't exist. ;)

But back on topic-ish...

Anyone really think either of these two slack-jawed retards had so much as a chance of assassinating anyone, much less a guy running for President? I mean how cliche is meth? All I heard the entire time I read the article was dueling banjos.
