I was watching Larry King and saw on the ticker that some DNC committee okayed the Michigan/Florida thing. I'm searching right now to see if it's just an advisory/opinion thing, or if it's policy now. If anybody finds it before me, can you get a link or something? I also want to check to see what the delegate count would be if they were seated...i.e., if it would even matter against Obama's lead as it stood prior to any ruling that may be made.

Posted

Side note...yes, I did see the releases that say that she's likely to release her delegates to Obama...but who knows if it'll actually happen...damn it, I can't find the freaking numbers!

DMN reports that delegates will be seated from Florida and Michigan...but who the heck cares??? It's over...it will be Obama and Biden for the Dems. Gotta love a Party that will put those two on a top ticket. The "Takings Coalition" has found their ticket! For the rest of us...hide your money now because they will want it all to redistribute to those who would rather get a hand out than a hand up. Gotta love it! Only in America...well maybe Venezula, China, North Korea, Cuba, France...and the beat goes on!

Hey, just had to take that shot as I know there will be folks on the board today that will "enjoy" it so. Let 'er rip!

I think using this site is progress...(I love you, EE.)

In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side. Believing that the best defense is a strong offense, we (myself and those whom I'm trying to attract to FR) support the strategy of taking the fight to the enemy as opposed to allowing the enemy the luxury of conducting their attacks on us at home on their terms and on their schedule.

Therefore, we wholeheartedly support the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes on known terrorist states and organizations that are believed to present a clear threat to our freedom or national security. We support our military, our troops and our Commander-in-Chief and we oppose turning control of our government back over to the liberals and socialists who favor appeasement, weakness, and subserviency. We do not believe in surrendering to the terrorists as France, Germany, Russia and Spain have done and as Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton and the Democrats, et al, are proposing.

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.

Free Republic is private property. It is not a government project, nor is it funded by government or taxpayer money. We are not a publicly owned entity nor are we an IRS tax-free non-profit organization. We pay all applicable taxes on our income. We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. We sell no merchandise, product or service, and we offer no subscriptions or paid memberships. We accept no paid advertising or promotions. We are funded solely by donations (non tax deductible gifts) from our readers and participants.

We aggressively defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and freedom of association, as well as our constitutional right to control the use and content of our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life.

I've been a FReeper for more than 10 years. This was the site that exposed the Dan Rather Memogate mess.

I can't tell you how many times I've been banned for pushing a "liberal" agenda. It's one of the best news source sites you'll ever find, if you can put up with or ignore some of the over the top conservatives and especially the Christian zealots. In general, most of the posters are good people.

I know it sounded sarcastic, but I actually meant what I said.

For all of this horseshit about Obama being socialist I'm very curious why he's got mostly centrist economic policy advisors. Oh well, guess we can't include facts in our arguments.

They're called talking points...the GOP could write the textbook on them.

Just from a few of these early posts it looks like the campaign for our next President will be V-E-R-Y interseting. I sure both sides will not let the facts get in the way of a good rant from time to time.

Facts such as how "mean spirited" the Republican Party is....when in 1964 the Civil Rights Act passed with 290 votes...138 Republican and 152 Democrat. Of the 130 votes against the Act 96bwere Democrat and 34 Republican. The1965 Voting Rights Act saw the support of 60% of tjhe Republicans in the Hose but only 40% of the Democrats in the House.

And who is quoted as saying this about taxes:

"our true choice is not between tax reduction, on the one hand, and the avoidance of large Federal deficits on the other. It is increasingly clear that, no matter what party is in power, so long as our national security needs keep rising, an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough revenue to balance the budget-just as it will never produce enough jobs or enough profits. In short, it is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high today and tax revenues are too low - and the soundest way to raise revenues in the long run is to cut tax rates now".

Ronald Reagan you say????? Guess again...how about the Prince of Camalot himself, President John F. Kennedy.

(Kennedy enacted a 22% percent across the board cut in tax rates in February of 1964 and tax revenues soared!)

Now, let the camnpaign begin. FUN of all FUN!

The Dems' favorite comeback (talking point)--call any argument a conservative puts up a "talking point." Ooh, and for added flair, stick Rush Limbaugh's name in there somewhere.

Well if the shoe fits...repeat anything enough times (true or not) and it becomes fact in the minds of many Americans. Some of that may also be due to the fact that most people "hear what they want to hear" and will accept fiction or opinion as truth (or vice versa) in order to not sway their strongly held beliefs (I've caught myself doing this).

Oh almost forgot add: "Rush Limbaugh talking point".

Thus endeth my comeback.

Exactly. Call something a "talking point" (especially a "Rush Limbaugh" talking point), and the argument is rendered moot, regardless of its validity.

Wow, I get back online and it's crazy on here.

For whoever thinks it's "over"...if Hillary's MI and FL delegates are allowed to vote, might some superdelegates jump the Obama ship?

Not likely, but still possible. It ain't over till my mom sings.

KRAM1 et al-

To read two perspectives on the Civil Rights Act read the chapter by Robert Bork (the same Bork who was Bork'ed by Biden in Bork's bid to be nominated for the U.S. Supreme Court) in Slouching Toward Gomorrah and Dinesh D'Souzas excellent book, The End of Racism.

If Her Thighness wants to make a fight of it, she needs to move in the next 24 hours.
