OK, not to get the soccer thing going again, but did you happen to catch the USA's win last night in Guatamala (1-0) in a World Cup Qualifying game? GREAT game if you like action for all you "soccer is boring" folks. It was like going to a fight and having a soccer game break out. First win for the US in Guatamala!!! Players being carted off on stretchers bleeding...and you said soccer was a non-contact sport...some great saves from both goalkeepers and really some great runs by Guatamala. I thought Guatamala actually out played the US squad (Landon Donavon is a mystery to me), but the US took advantage when it had the chance. And, Ruiez (Guatamala, ex-FC Dallas) is one DIRTY player!

So, this game had it all. For you football fans it was a 7-0 win for ythe US. For the rest of us who understand that giving 7points for a TD and extra point is inflating the score, it was a 1-0 victory for the US with plenty of rough play, tough decisions by the referee and hostility from the home Guatamalan crowd.

Was it the prettiest game I have seen...not on your life, but it did keep my attention the whole way and was a "rough and tumble" affair. It was great to see the US get three points from a "away" World Cup qualifier ina very hostile environment.

OK, your turn... :)

7-0 football is boring football.

1-0 soccer is boring soccer.

I bet it was a lovely game of turnovers. Do they even track "turnovers" in soccer? Because all I see is:

One team: dribble, dribble, pass... turnover.

Next team: dribble, dribble, tackle, fake injury, turnover.

Repeat for a couple hours and hope that somewhere a long the line there is a penalty (or corner) kick that allows a team to score. Otherwise, it will be a thrilling 0-0 game.

Genius episode. Well soccer is a different game all together...I can see how Americans have not caught on because at this point I just think that there are too many sports as it is that people are consumed with. I feel that when you watch the premiere leagues of soccer or the world/euro cup its a whole different ball game and I feel there is a ton of action.

John Denver...let's see...baseball...throw over to first...throw over to first...scratch yourself...step out of the box...call time out, throw 10 pitches to the same batter...throw over to first, scrtch yourself again....quick shot of the right fielder scratching himself....man, I can hardly contain myself with all the action. OBVIOUSLY, you did not watch the game I was describing.

When I get confronted by someone who attacks something important to me through exaggeration and hyperbole, I often retaliate with an even more exaggerated and hyperbolic response of something they care about. It's obvious from his post that JD loves baseball...

Wait, he never mentioned baseball at all? Seriously? Well scissor me timbers!

And honestly, a batter working a 10 pitch count is pretty damn impressive.

If it helps, I watched the second half of Brazil/Portugal on Tuesday and saw 3 goals! That's 21 points in football terms and 56789 points in premi-ball, a game I made up where I dunk on a 5 foot rim while swearing at the poor kids in the premi-ward at Parkland. I thought it was a little ragged, but enjoyed Brazil's obvious frustration and inability to handle Portugal. Its progress I guess.

I love that simpsons episode. Pure greatness.

I saw the US game, it was brutal and much more exciting than the final score showed.

I am a big soccer fan especially at the international level... but, I must admit it is annoying see how wussy most soccer guys are... i know they are just trying to draw a card but it ruins the game.

And with that it ruins the sports fan's perception of the game. Especially, when football is king in these parts soccer just comes off as a bunch of silly nannies kicking a ball around.

I heart you.

Or maybe you'll win one at our lowest point and never shut up about it when you have home court at the 2012 Premiball World Championships in Athens.

Maybe we don't do the premiball fundamentals through regimented drilling like you guys, but its because there is a poetry and a soul to the way we play. You guys are like a Souza march and we are smooth Coltrane. Besides, how many times have we seen a Greek premiball star come to the states and fail miserably? You don't see any foreign players winning over here - because they can't handle the physicality of our game and they are soft! SOFT!

No premiball alley-oops without representation!

Eagle 1888 sign me up for the H-Town premi-ball squad. We all know that Houston is the epicenter for premiball. The IPBF(International Premiball Federation) just recently decided to build there headquarters in Houstons very own Medical Center.

And to you TastyGreek I do believe that you suffer from severe delusions of grandeur.
