What is the best and least expensive way to have a tv set up at your tailgate? I'm wanting to run two tv's this year if possible. One with an xbox and one with a game on. Also, do rabbit ears get a decent picture from the parking lot?

If you have an hdtv, with digital rabbit ears you should be okay, as for analog, not sure.

Rabbit ears never worked too well for me, I always used a satellite dish. When I upgraded to HD a couple of years ago, I kept the old DirecTV dish and set it up on a tripod for tailgating. I just used a reciever from the house. Works like a champ. And with the dish I have more options for games. I get ESPN et al, so you aren't limited to just the games the networks are showing. Doesnt cost me anything more since Im paying for DirecTV already at the house.

Do you have satellite service?

If so, get a spare dish and a tripod. I spent about $100 for the equipment and just took my home receiver with a small TV. With just 5 minutes of work, you can have every televised game on Dish/DirecTV.

i do have dish network. so i can plug my reciever into a spare dish and then into my tv and it should work? that sounds like a plan so far.

Yep. The trick is aligning your dish. I recommend a cheap compass and practicing a couple times at home so that you don't end up kicking your dish through the uprights.

ok, not to beat everyone down with this but i'm about to purchase the exact same type of dish that's sitting on my house. if i have this i should be able to connect it to my receiver box and by positioning it at the right angle get it to come up at fouts?

Yes. BTW, do you have Dish or DirecTV?

Anyone got any advice on an inexpensive generator to run these kinds of setups?

I use a 3500 watt Honda portable generator, and paid $400 last year for it at Home Depot. It's a big loud one and takes two people to unload it, but it runs my TV, satellite box, and two fans. It's never run out of gas, and I tailgate for almost 6 hours.

Quiet generators are expensive.

For Directv customers, the Sat-go is a really cool option too. It offers a receiver, satellite dish and TV in one complete, easy-to-carry unit. The initial cost is very reasonable if you haven't already bought a TV specifically for tailgating purposes and the monthly surcharge is the same as having an additional receiver in your house.
