Eventual hire, Teter, fired for NCAA violations.

The previous search now is an issue, with Teter accused by the NCAA of not reporting the ineligible status of two athletes. He also was accused of filing an inaccurate self-report, and filing that only when an A&M System audit prompted him to do so.

Former Islanders sports information director Craig Merriman confirmed the athletic department staff forwarded a recommendation to the search committee during the last search that finalist Hank Dickenson be hired. Dickenson, at North Texas, withdrew from consideration three days before Teter was hired, citing, among other things, the length of the search.

No doubt Hank would have done them a good job, and certainly a hell of a lot better than Teter. Their loss, our gain.

And when I was involved in campus stuff, the athletes really semed to like him...not that he needs to be liked by them in his position, but I think it's kind of a testament of character.

They should have taken him back then for sure. I haven't met a single person that either doesn't like him or has had a bad thing to say about him. He works tirelessly for this University. Always friendly and always pumping up Athletics.

and he raised all that money for the new stadium.

CHEAP SHOT!!!! WHAT IS YOUR DONATION FOR THE STADIUM TO THIS POINT? WHAT POTENTIAL SPONSORS HAVE YOU TALKED WITH? I KNOW HANK, AND I ASSURE YOU HE SETS A GOOD EXAMPLE NOT ONLY AS AN ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATOR FOR THIS UNIVERSITY, BUT ALSO A GOOD AMBASSADOR. WHY DON'T YOU CALL HIM TOMORROW AND PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS!!!!!

Hank is definitely a plus for UNT. I once told him that "when he goes" to make sure it was not to some small, non-discript college. He is too good for that. I am glad he didn't take this job (or wasn't offered the position). He can stay here and help UNT until he gets the shot he deserves at a much bigger program than A&M-CC.

And, I agree....that was a cheap shot about the stadium funds. If you want to take chaep shots at folks there are much more deserving tagets than Hank.

Nice first post.

BTW, someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Hank responsible for the majority of advertising we see at Fouts/Super Pit, etc...
