Channel 5 just reported on their late show that the IOC has demanded an investigation into the Chinese gymnastic team members. That a computer hacker in London is claiming to have found proof that two of them, including the one that tied Luikin, are below age.

I doubt this changes anything. I mean, couldn't the Chinese govt could technically print any official birth certificate they wanted? And if so, how could you possible prove these children are not of age?

Of course, a little more reading, may have found my answer. From an SI article.

Earlier this month, the AP found registration lists previously posted on the Web site of the General Administration of Sport of China that showed both He and Yang were too young to compete. He was born Jan. 1, 1994, according to the 2005, 2006 and 2007 registration lists. Yang was born Aug. 26, 1993, according to the 2004, 2005 and 2006 registration lists. In the 2007 registration list, however, her birthday has changed to Aug. 26, 1992.

What happened to our track this year. First time since 1929 that an American has not won either the 100m or 200m in the Olympics. The 400m relay team failed to qualify for the finals?

The Jamaican's are catching up. A guy named "Bolt", IIRC....fittingly too.

I think I read that the men's AND women's 400m relay teams dropped batons.

Women's Soccer beat Brazil for the gold.

Still no Olympic soccer gold for Brazil.

And very, very sweet redemption for Hope Solo. What a game she played in goal. Makes you think of what might have been last year at the World Cup if she had played that semifinal.

I'm surprised that the Chinese are so up-in-arms about the inquiries. They've cheated the same way before...it's like if the USA got pissed about steroids testing.

We lost gold in softball and now we've lost gold in baseball. Our track team is in shambles. Boxing was a huge disappointment.

I have to say, Team USA has not lived up to its potential this year.

I was proud of the baseball bronze considering our pros embarrassed themselves so badly last year. I think Cuba's won the gold in every Olympics except our one upset a few years back.

Plus, Taylor Teagarden even had the game-winning RBI against Japan.

The Women's Basketball team just won their 4th straight Gold Metal. Dynasty anyone?

Yeah, so is basketball and the 1600 meter relay the next sports to be eliminated from competition? Hey, how about we eliminate gymnastics and diving and any other sport that China does well in for 2012?

The game won't be on until 1:30 am CST. 37.gif

Watching the Bronze Medal game ... Argentina is running away from Lithuania.

What a nutty ending to this game...crazed Spaniards chasing American players, windmilling their arms trying their best to foul...well, anybody. I know there's a strategy to fouling, but really, they just looked like they had rabies or something.

Yes, rabies...though their patchy and generally creepy beards may have contributed a bit of "mange" to the appearance as well...
