Some of us who have been around UNT football since the Fry days have heard it all before. So what makes this time different? Well, it is out of the norm for UNT to buy out DD contract for half a million, to spend one million on site evaluation and stadium plans, to suddenly have an emergency telephone board meeting to spend 4.5 million to take the hotel back immediately. It is not the norm at UNT for the President to be "on board" for a new stadium and to acknowldge this to the press and say it will be done no matter how long it takes....this is commitment to an end goal....where there is smoke, there is fire....YES my friends, you will get your stinkin stadium, sooner or later....my guess is sooner and by 2010.

I agree that all signs point to 2010. What I want to hear is Rick V saying the words "Two thousand ten."

Maybe he wrote it in TD's contract and TD reminded him of it? B)

You forgot to include the Board of Regents requesting and receiving an improved bond rating.

One of you fellows will have to help me to understand how the stadium being ready by the 2010 season can work. If I remember correctly (and that is a very big IF) I read that it will take 18 months to build a stadium. If I remember correctly (another big IF) I read that the president of the university recently said that we needed to have half of the needed money ($30 million) before we started construction. So, if my calculations are right, we would need to raise $30 million dollars by March of 2009. That is seven months away. I am not convinced that we can get that done. Please help me to understand.

I believe the first $30 million could be obtained by bonds if the student fee passes this fall. The other $30 million will be from RV knocking on your door soon after the vote is tallied.

When Rick comes to knock on my door I will invite him in, get him a cold beer, and ask him what took him so long. You see, the Advancement Office knocked on my door about five years ago. At that time I promised to give a certain amount each year for three years. That three year commitment was completed last August. Now, what other means do we have to get another thirty million dollars? I just do not see it happening in time for us to be in a new stadium by 2010. Any other suggestions? I don't think a bake sale is going to work, either.
