That's what people in New Orleans thought about Katrina.

Difference is Katrina was a massive storm that spent time in the Gulf/Ocean building strength. Edouard, goofy spelling BTW, just formed and does not have the time over water to strengthen to that type.

A man that knows something about hurricanes. Thank you.

yeah this storm will bring some rain, but that's about it. A possible Cat-1 is nothing to work oneself in a twit over. I say bring it on. And bring it good. More rain the better. I haven't any interest in going to work tomorrow!

I'm a Florida native. We would fart in the general direction of these little hurricanes.

...and so do most native-Houstonians. In fact, when Rita came, while everyone was hauling ass out of town, I went with a friend back INTO town to have drinks and party. Hysteria is all the rage now.

of course, a few native New Orleneans cast indifference Katrina's way and look what that got them...

Why the smart a$$ed response? You responded to Deep Green's comment about staying put with a comment about Katrina and New Orleans. Just thought I'd point out the differences in the storms since your original post seemed to infer that they were similar.

I'm sitting here at work in Houston and it is amazing how many people took off work today. My office is in the NW/Champions area and all we've add so far is a little rain. I'm sure the wind will pick up shortly, but this storm has really lacked the punch they were predicting, so far.

Sorry, thought it was obvious to everyone and their dog that these two storms are in no way alike. I was just making the comparison about the similar attitudes towards each of them.

As a Florida native, I've ridden out my share of hurricanes both big and small. I'm an Andrew survivor. And if I were in New Orleans with Katrina sitting offshore, my ass would have been out of there faster than you could say "Bourbon Street Hurricane".
