I used to think Jack was the perfect Joker. My better half said it was a natural role for him, and he just had to be Jack.

But Heath just threw himself into a role that was so much darker and a deviation from his natural personality.

Never been a huge Heath Ledger Fan coming into this movie... never saw Brokeback, Knights Tale was pretty lame, and the Patriot was actually really good. I expected something really good from Ledger when I saw the first pictures of The Joker leaked on WWTDD. Then he died and all the stories of his acting practices came to surface. He lives as his character while shooting, blah blah blah.... So I was more intrigues thinking that his death could have been a result of this role... Yeah I know thats prolly not the best reason to go into a movie excited but whatever...

WOW, Heath NAILED what the joker is supposed to be! He was a psychotic, dillusional and humorous villain that has no true motive for the destruction he is causing other than to just cause it. I do not want to give up any of the movie since many have yet to see it but DAMN. thats all I can say is DAMN!

The magic trick and the scene were he just looks at Harvey in the hospital and says "hi" had me disturbed laughing - a lot.

I expected there was no way this movie would live up to the hype but it was amazing. When the weakest link across the cast is Aaron Eckhart, things turned out pretty damn well.

Actually, I felt Eckhart gave perhaps the best performance. Certainly the most interesting journey.

As to the poll, definitetly Ledger. His Joker was more true to the spirit of the villain that I remember from the comic book.

You Caesar voters are just being goofy now.

You can't beat the original. I also miss the "POW!" they used to thrown in for dramatic affect during fight scenes.

Hey, it's YOUR poll. If you don't like some of the votes, don't include that as a choice.

Why is that? All Jack really did was play the exact same style of Joker as Caesar. I'd say a vote for Jack is silly.

I liked Caesar, I also liked the the old riddler and the penguin best, not to mention Cat woman, wow, she was hot in her day.

I never said Eckhart did a bad job - I love the guy. I just think they could have handled his downfall a little better and the script actually painted him in a corner. It just seemed a little drastic - but not bad.

Also, you're in company. Skip Bayless loves Eckhart even more than you do: http://defamer.com/5028868/aaron-eckharts-...ports-columnist

Perhaps I'm in the minority but I wasn't particularly impressed with Eckhart. I think it had a lot to do with the way that the script didn't make two-face even remotely scary to me. Aside from having a gun there was nothing threatening about him. The two face I remember from comics, and even the animated series, had more "oomph" to him. To me he was just a "bonus" character thrown in because the writers wanted to tell more of the Batman legend.

The joker was everything I looked for.

The arc that the Nolan's were telling had more to do with Harvey's Shakeaspearian fall than really showing him as a Two-Face villain ala the comics. And as the "White Knight" Dent, I felt he was fantastic.

My only issue with the Harvey Dent/Two-Face storyline is that it felt like there was alot that was left on the cutting room floor for the sake of shortening the movie. I would love to see Nolan's Director's Cut of both films.

That said, I thought Eckhart was pretty good. He was no Ledger's Joker, but he did what he was there to do. I think they left it open for Two-Face to be the villian again...they never said Two-Face was dead, just Harvey Dent. If Nolan is going to continue to focus on Batman's beginnings, continuation of the Two-Face storyline could be doable. As long as he stays away from Robin...Batgirl...and Bat-Nipples...he can do no wrong in my eyes.

Nolan's first cut of The Dark Knight was 3 hours, so I'm sure there was a bit more to Two-Faces storyline. Probably most of the twenty minutes they did edit out was that story I'd imagine.

You can't bring Two-Face back IMHO, because it'd ruin the whole reason why Batman takes the blame.

I'm not sure what villain, or villains Nolan will use in a 3rd film. The more "comic book-ish" of them like Clay Face or a Mr. Freeze just don't seem to work in his Gotham City. I'd think perhaps the Penguin because he was just a mobster, and there's a huge vacuum now in Gotham with Harvey having taken down so many mobsters in court and Joker in prison.

I've seen Catwoman, Talia al Ghul, Black Mask and The Riddler as the top rumors.

One of my co-bloggers thinks that the William Fichtner character who was working for the mob and protecting the bank in the opening scene could play a key role later since he was gassed and not killed.

Interesting theory...I remember thinking to myself that he was too familiar of a face to play such a small role...though Fichtner does play bit parts oh, so well...

I could definitely see Catwoman making an appearance. I felt Nolan already made a sly suggestion to that fact in TDK. But she isn't a real advesary. At least not to carry a film by herself. Her relationship with Batman is way too complicated for her to be the main villain.

I LOVED the Dark Knight, but the best part of the movie was watching the Watchmen trailer.

If they don't F it up, that is going to be the greatest comic book movie, ever*.

Of course, they completely F'ed up V for Vendetta, another one of Alan Moore's novels, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

* I fully realize this makes me sound like this guy, and I stand by it:

Also, if you have never read a comic book this is the one.

Time magazine has it on it's 100 Best English Language Novels list.

I spent the time on the Watchman trailer going "wtf"?

But, apparently, my friend is with you. He says if you understand the comic book and what is going on with the characters, it is going to be amazing

If you're unsure about Heath as the Joker...read The Dark Knight Returns, the beginning of Kingdom Come...there are a few others, but a couple of the scenes in both of those are killer.

The end of the movie set up PERFECTLY the rumored "Batman/Superman", teased out in I Am Legend.

And as far as Watchmen...same thing I said to my wife...you need to decide soon whether you want to learn the surprise from the comic or the movie. I'd recommend the comic, because as soon as people start talking about screenings, they'll probably give away the ending. Watchmen is the daddy of most of the recent "badass" comics. Worth the $20-25 it probably costs for the collected edition (way cheaper if you can find it used, which is not likely). Reading Watchmen without knowing what it's about is like being the first person to watch The Sixth Sense.
