"Gilmore was among the Mean Green's most productive defensive players late last season and was starting to look like a potential star. Just how good was Gilmore? I have no way of telling if the e-mail was valid, but one person asked me if I had contact info for Gilmore to see if he would be interested in playing in Canada next season now that he is out of options on the college level."

My question: Gilmore can't come back?????? He's not out of eligibility.

The Franklin kid might be forced to the defensive side of the ball. I have no idea how athletic Franklin is but we need some defensive line help in a hurry.

You may have a good point there, Dodge2007; I still think Charlie Brown would be more suited to DE than his proposed new position of DT; with a weight of 255 and 4.8 speed, he sounds kinda like a DE to me. Hey, no offense, but are you thinking of changing your sig, since we're well along into 2008 now...just trying to inject a little humor!

Brown at DE seems more likely than playing DT. Not sure of his speed to turn plays inside though and his ability to put pressure on the QB from the outside. I sure hope he can do it. Chapman was the quickest DE put the man could flat out play and had a lot of experience (something that Charlie Brown does not). By no means am I knocking Brown, I want him to play his butt off and make plays as much as the next guy.

Deloach is going to have to really mix up his defense with nickel and multiple different front looks possibly using LB's as speed rushers to get some pressure on the QB??

I'd like the story direct from MeanGreenPOP, but my recollection is that Charlie was highly recruited as a DE coming out of high school. One of the reasons he chose North Texas was because of Dickey's promise to use him as a Tight End.

The switch back to D-line only came because of the appendix-like uselessness of TEs in the original offense Dodge installed.

Brown doesn't have experience on the college level, but if my memory isn't failing me, he could have gone to a higher profile school if he'd have been willing to play at DE from the start.

Another kick in the nads! Horton gone, crap! Well, I guess with Horton disappearing,

the sudden and surprising appearence of Mack Cole means the coaching staff must

have known Horton was not coming to NT, far in advance. The staff must have went

into a priority recruiting 911, to find Cole this late in the year. I am glad the staff was

able to find pretty good DE recruit. But, is he a automatic starter?

Candidates:

Charlie Brown, 6-4,255,DT, move back to DE? I sure hope so. Great Athlete! Strong, quick!

Marquis Sykes, 6-3, 253, has really bulked up, athletic, was a LB, has played in games.

Kyle Russo, 6-3, 245, played DE in HS, ready to break out?

Ryan Davenport, 6-2, 228, what position has Ryan not played since his arrival?

Don't count Ryan out- he will play

Kail Krider, 6-3, 245, currently at DT, young, but can play DE

Possibilities, crazy ideas-

Tobe Nwigwe,LB, 6-2, 237, very strong, can pass cover, handle OL guys

Jordan Scoggins, DT, 6-1, 274, young, very good athlete, tough guy

Bryant Seidle, LB, 6-3,230, good athlete that has played several positions

Daniel Calderon,DT,6-3,240, too light for DT, good for DE?

Troy Franklin, freshman,6-5, 300, nope- OT for DodgeBall

I vote for the experienced players, Brown,Sykes,Davenport,Cole to be the 2 deep rotation.

Russo and Krider to get playing time and experience in certain game situations.

ok maybe I am out of the loop, but why is Horton no longer on the roster? Did he not finish his classes?

I assume he will not count against the APR since he never stepped foot on campus.

N/M finally saw the other article. Very disappointing but I guess we move on.

As for the stadium, <_<
