$900K to $4M. Now is it worth it?

I don't think so... Assuming the WAC administrators take a portion of that money and distribute the rest, that's going to be about $300,000 a year, spread out between all of our sports. That would not help much with travel costs, especially for games in Hawaii.

Games would be spread across the various ESPN properties, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. The new package would likely include more midweek games in football but would not include UH without the Warriors' approval because of travel logistics.

Since I am someone that travels 6 hours (one-way) for North Texas home games:

I. Hate. Weekday. Games.

Fresno State has 4 ESPN and 1 ABC game this year :D

Why they're picking up the SJSU game (apparently our rival...been a while since that ones been a big game) is beyond me.

That is great news for the WAC. We don't have to hate those guys just because we don't want to be in their group. I am happy for schools like NMSU and Idaho, hopefully the WAC doesn't screw them out of a full share. If the 8 games are all on weekdays than I would say that the $4 million is about what those teams will lose in ticket sales so I am glad that they got a good amount. $500K per game, divided by the WAC members equally... well, that comes out to about $55K each per game. Will that offset the ticket sales? Probably. San Jose State wouldn't likely make that much on a home game whether it was on Tuesday or Saturday. So it is good for the WAC and sets a level that we can shoot for as our stock rises in the Belt.

Nope.

Thankfully, unless I go to a game in Fayetteville, I don't have to travel 6 hours myself, but I still don't like the weekday games.

I know the WAC is tempting. The attitude of many of our fans is "anything but the Sun Belt". We should wait for the coming shakeup with the Big East, C-USA, PAC-10, and MWC. Spots are going to open up. In the meantime, we need to get the stadium at least to ground-breaking so that when the time comes and conferences are looking for new members, we'll be ready to make the jump.

La.Tech leapt at the chance but they had three regional opponents and the shake-up didn't work so well. When you are grousing about an $800,000 payment not helping your program much, you've got trouble.
