UNT picked up its first commitment for 2009 from a DISD school, and it appears as if it might offer another player from the recruiting hotbed.

I usually don't blog about prospects that haven't received offers, but since I have not seen his name mentioned anywhere else, I thought I would add Keivon Gamble's name to the growing list of players considering UNT. The Dallas Lincoln cornerback told Rivals.com that UNT is looking at him.

Gamble has received offers from New Mexico State and Arkansas State, but a lot of other major college programs are starting to show interest, including Miami, Boston College, Wisconsin, Utah and West Virginia.

UNT already has a commitment from Daniel Mayberry, who played last season at Dallas Spruce and will play for another DISD school in the fall. Mayberry is trying to make up his mind on a destination after Spruce shut down its athletic program for next season due to low standardized test scores by the general student population. He will transfer to another DISD school.

I will have a post on the blog later tonight with some notes from around the UNT athletic department.
