HAHAHA... great schtick. We would go completely bankrupt in the WAC, but it's only money right? Now let's consider all options? If Howard Schnellenberger manages to get FAU to the SBC crown this year, they should plan on new conference affiliations next year with South Florida or SMU. FAU is the favorite to win it all this year... I just read that somewhere. MTSU and Troy move into the SEC. Then NT moves into the BIG XII South. Of course Baylor will have to move into Conference USA with SMU so we can have their Big-XII spot?, but Baylor wont mind. Their games with SMU are SOOOO exciting, and both sets of fans can wager on getting at least one win in-conference each year? My requests: If Todd Dodge has any fire left in him, he will call Mack Brown and negotiate a vote for joining the Big XII South. I doubt that TD's badgering would be enough to get it done, but we could offer to hire Cedrick Benson as an offensive coach to sway the deal. Mac loves CB, and since Patrick Cobbs is still in the NFL, Cedrick Benson is the next best option for RB coach. Also, not so fast on building a new stadium... we could have Texas Stadium moved Brick-by-brick onto the old Golf Course. I'm not so sure we want a 65K seat stadium with a hole in the roof, but we could get it dirt cheap... leaving money to paint it with our changing shades of green each year.

Oh, and for those keeping score...Oprah (the world's largest Tom Cruise fan) now reccomends a book called "The Taming of the Shrew", which she mistakenly thinks is a Nicole Kidman Biography.

LOL! It's really not worth arguing about anymore, but I guess that I will throw in a couple of pennies. I agree that we HAVE GOT TO GET A BASEBALL TEAM ASAP, but are FAU/FIU/Troy so much geographically closer and more prestigious than Fresno/Nevada/Boise and the rest of the Wacky gang? The bottom line to me is that the WAC has MUCH more history and prestige than the SBC, and that The Belt is at the bottom of 1A in both fact and perception. Now, do we want to run off and try to join the WAC because of this, or should we do the good old NT thing and stay put because it's too expensive or whatever? I don't know, but I do not think it should be based on marginal economics and geography. There's a lot more involved than that. I guess that we can just sit and wait for the next generation to make that decision for us like we always have (tongue in cheek). BOL to us in our pursuit of these various alternatives. GO FRESNO!

The WAC has a couple of high priced escorts that prop up the crack addiction of the bottom feeders, basically some want to give up on a gorwing league to go to a league with 3 good teams and then the rest are on par or worse than the Belt, makes perfect sense.

You just found a great way for the AD to get all of the alumni in on the new stadium. They will need us to help move it brick by brick and with all of our help, it should be done much quicker.

Not sure I would want us to take off and join the WAC right now, but those are all very true statements to me. If we had a very accurate crystal ball honed in on future realignments and such, then I guess we would all know what's best, but since we don't I guess we're probably stuck at the bottom of 1A conferences for the time being. It is not even worth arguing about anymore, so I'll shutup on the subject.

Remember when we were going to get a baseball team this year?

If that team played in the WAC, we would have just won a title.

Talk about a missed opportunity.

We need baseball ASAP and were promised a program right after softball, but don't expect alot out of the officials in the AD dept.

Some of the east teams in the SBC are farther than some west teams in the WAC. I would not protest a move to the WAC as I did in past times, it would be an improvement in regards to prestige and known opponents. But I am really shooting for CUSA for better conference rivals.

If you think the SBC is the place to be for our program ask yourself this. " How many alums of FAU, Western Kentucky, FIU, and MTSU live among the 6 million in the metroplex.

That is a big reason why we can't fill our current stadium or fund a new stadium. We need to get out of that SH*&%Y conference before we can make some noise of our own.

NORTH TEXAS is the most out of place team in their own conference in the United States of America.

Uh, I believe a baseball stadium project was next in line after the football stadium issue was addressed.

Under what set of facts is the Sun Belt the worst conference?

At least 3 I-A leagues did not have multiple NCAA basketball tournament bids like the Sun Belt and two failed to advance past the first round. (MAC, WAC, CUSA)

Four I-A leagues failed to have multiple teams in the NCAA Baseball tournament. (Big 10, MAC, MWC, WAC)

In football the Sun Belt in the BCS conference rankings finished ahead of the MAC and missed beating CUSA by fractions of a point.

Perception is one thing and if you want to think the Sun Belt is bottom then perceive what you wish, but the facts don't match it.

Oh, I agree with what you are saying in several areas, but if a "1AA" football school wants to move up in stature, which "1A" conference will they look to for membership? I think the obvious answer to that question tells the story in many ways. Perception often does have some validity.

Looking to and being accepted are two different things.

The Sun Belt has taken 2 straight from I-AA and will take 2 more. Of those four, three were members of the conference before going I-A. CUSA did that with UAB and USF. The Big East with UConn.

The MAC with Buffalo and Marshall took teams from I-AA who weren't members.

Yeah, and every team in the SBC (except ULL) moved up from 1AA since the 90's. Can't say that benefits our national perception a whole lot. I'm not really trying to bash The Belt because I think we do have several up and coming programs and universities, I'm just expressing what I think is the obvious national consensus in regard to conference rankings. That could change eventually, but I guess it just takes awhile to create history.

Just because the school moved up from FCS to FBS doesn't have to hurt the perception of the school. If I'm not mistaken USF was ranked fairly high for a while last year.

Very true. It also seems that some former 1990's 1AA school from Idaho made quite a splash a couple of seasons ago which culminated in a big win over some school from north of the Red River. Individual school perceptions can be one thing, while collective school perceptions can be quite another.
