In some ways, though the poster is a little over the top, he is right.

We have an administration without the gravitas required to get things done. The other instituions in this state (and across the country) impose student fees to pay for their growing athletics programs.

UNT has HUGE potential - the problem is that we have had said potential for going on 10 years and we haven't had an administration during that time who has shown any ability to seize on that potential in a way that has allowed us to gain much ground.

We can't put the weight of the entire athletic department's future on one man (Dodge) and count on him to win so the "big doners" will get motivated to give. We've GOT the big doners RIGHT NOW. ...many of them are sitting in class in Denton as I type this.

The student fee is just the latest in a series of events that just points to a lack of nads amoungst the administrators of our fine institution.

Checkfacts is a tool, don't get me wrong, and bashing UNT constantly is dumb - there are a lot of good things going on - but no matter how poorly delivered, we should heed the point he is trying to make.

No they don't. As pointed out before, by law only two institutions are permitted to impose the athletic fees without a student vote -- Texas, and Texas A&M. All other universities in Texas must put it to a vote either before the student body, or the SGA.

The student fee is just the latest in a series of events that just points to a lack of nads amoungst the administrators of our fine institution.

Patience. Things are happening this next school year.

I think CheckFacts needs a vacation. That guy spends his entire day bashing UNT wherever he goes.

I think the quoter is a little closer to home. I don't think it is CheckFacts at all. But given the chance, ChangeFacts would say the same if not worse!

It was over the top but yes he is right....UNT is falling behind.

Its not like we are falling behind in the Big 12, SEC, Big 10...but we are falling behind to fellow SBC schools. To me thats sad. Thats why my expectaions for UNT athletics has greatly decreased. I hope they prove me wrong and exceed it but I am just expecting a half ass run athletics program for many many years to come.

In the words of Dr Gretchen Bataille "This University needs leadership." Unfortunately, I thought that's what she was hired for.

Hopefully she will someday awaken with the knowledge that that North Texas not only has the potential to be a great university, but that she can be the leader in that objective.

I'm not sure why Jim has developed this acerbic attitude toward this administration. It is a concern to me because he has been a long-time supporter of our ujniversity, both with his money and his service. I assume that most of the railing is toward President Bataille. The president has been on board less than two years and much of that time is usually devoted to getting the lay of the land, and developing rapport with faculty, alumni, and friends of the university so I think that maybe it's still a little early for the harsh talk.

There have been several situations develop that have thrown both academics and athletics off schedule. One of the most important continues to be constant cutting of state funding by the legislature. As pointed out, we do not play by the same set of rules that UT and A&M do. And, in spite of being older, we have been behind both Texas Tech and Houston in terms of state funding for some time. Frankly, Eagle Point and the Radisson property have also greatly changed Master Plan thinking. Long term, that will be a blessing but short term, timelines are thrown out of whack while the administration determines the order of things based on availability of funds. It's also possible that the changes in the Board of Regents have worked to our disadvantage, although the BOR does not have a proactive role in planning. The economy is also becoming a major factor to developing a "go slow" attitude.

Again, no one on this board wants positive changes to happen more than I but I realize that mistakes, even relatively minor ones, can be costly. I do expect vast improvement within the next year and, if not, I will be at the head of the line asking for results.

Maybe just an overall lack of football news...by fall practice, such as this wouldn't be posted.
