does this link take anyone to the right place? this blog says nothing about recruits....

the new blogs are late loading on some sites. as for the article, vito fails to mention that most all our players from mississippi are from a jc and not high school recruits. most are on their second chance with a 1-a program.

Where UNT's linemen recruits might come from

I have received a few questions from Mean Green fans concerned about the lack of linemen prospects whose names have come up in connection with UNT.

It's not like one can expect them to appear out of nowhere.

I would expect them to arrive from Mississippi, which one could argue is just about the same deal.

UNT landed offensive linemen Gabe Hollivay and Nate Jenkins and defensive end Alonzo Horton from Mississippi in its last class. No one had ever heard of either of the offensive linemen until they committed to UNT.

Ask anyone who covers recruiting on a national level or has recruited Mississippi and he will tell you that the state is a black hole when it comes to information. You need someone who knows the lay of the land to make any headway and UNT happens to have just such a coach in Shelton Gandy.

Gandy is from Mississippi, played at Southern Miss and also coached there. If you are wondering how UNT magically pulled three top recruits from the state last year, Gandy is the reason. And don't forget that Cam Montgomery, a running back who was among the Mean Green's highest-rated recruits two years ago, was a Mississippi JC player.

A quick look through any national recruiting database shows that there are a ton of huge linemen at the Mississippi JCs again this season. There is no indication that any of them are being recruited by UNT. Just don't be surprised if there are not at least a few Mississippi monsters in the Mean Green's next recruiting class.

And, including Montgomery from last year, 2 of the 4 are Scout 4-star players, 1 is a Scout 3-star. B)

He must have fixed it because when I read it he talked about how hollivay, jenkins, and horton are jc players.

Does Vitto have a login name here? If so, does anyone know what it is?

I don't think he posts. I'm not even convinced he lurks. He is surrounded by people who do, and could very well get wind of everything (including all the hate) from them.

He has been very responsive whenever I email him, and I imagine would appreciate anything you want to comment on the blog...negative or positive, the DRC loves traffic.

Has anyone ever had anything reasonable to say that was NOT approved on the blog's comments?
