"Tiger Woods will miss the rest of the season because of a left knee that will require more surgery, a person with knowledge of the decision said Wednesday."

I guess once you've won a U.S. Open like that, you've pretty much had a complete season.

The story I just read said that he has played in 7 tournaments this year, and has won 7 of them. So he will play 1/3 of the season, and win more than anyone else on the tour including a Major - Remarkable.

Had not seen the article referring to Tiger being "out" for the rest of the season...WOW...too bad for professional golf. Now, that's one professional sport I can follow (and do)...these guys (and the ladies too) play by the rules...or they get called out!

Tiger will break every record in golf (except Byron's win streak) IF (it's a big IF) he stays healthy long enough. With his knee problems flaring up at age 32, you have to wonder if he can hold out "health-wise" long enough. He has got to be the finest golfer EVER! Bar none...I know you can argue for the "Golden Bear" as he has the most majors right now, but, I think that clearly Tiger is the best golfer to EVER hit the links. He is "something else"...I would venture to say that he is the best overall professional athlete in the world today! The thing that makes him that much better than everyone else on the tour is his mental game. Every player on the tour is a BIG TIME golfer and all have plenty of skills to win on the PGA (or they would not be there in the fiorst place), but from where I sit, I do not see anyone with the mental game that Tiger has.

Amazing athlete...and a pretty darn good guy too! OK, and let's not forget that smokin' hot wife of his!

I admit, he's not a bad guy or a thug by any means. Though I did hear he can be a pretty big rick with a p. And for that smokin hot wife....well having access to virtually an endless amount of money will get you any woman.

So, Green Mean, what you are saying is that women can be bought?????? Hmmmmmmmmmm...interesting concept to ponder.

Like I have always said...my wife is not for sale for any amount of money...But...I might rent her for awhile.......Man, I do hope she is not reading this thread. I could be in a bit of "hot water" over that one...but, those of you who know me, know that situation is not very rare at all!

:lol::lol::lol::huh:

Tiger played in the Masters, w/o winning it. He's played in 6 and won 4.

6 out of 4 is still pretty spectacular, espicially when you consider the 2 he didn't win were top ten finishes with a 2nd at The Masters.

While I'm not a Tiger fan, for the last ten years I've viewed rooting for Tiger like pulling for the Sox/Yankees, it's impossible not to acknowledge his greatness. I'll be interested to see if Lefty can take advantage of Tiger's absence and at least challenge for the #1 spot while he's gone.

When he is losing he seems to be....

Whatever you think of me, you should know he hates old people...children, dogs.....and that broad's crying still in the exit room.

That falling sound you hear is golf TV ratings.

And loose change. I read a while back that his grip on the sport and popularity was so incredible that some sponsors would threaten to pull out of an event if Tiger was not competing.

I threaten to do the same thing all the time and you know what?

It always works.

I think that if Lefty and a couple other top ten guys can turn it up a notch ratings wont be hurt that much. You'll probably see John Daily playing on quite a few more sponsors exemptions as well.

Personally, I think quite the majority of the PGA Tour players are unhappy that Tiger will be out the rest of the year. These guys are competitors and they can ALL play! I think they want to go up against Tiger so they can "beat the best". If you can't beat the current best, then you cannot be the best. Rocco had a great time playing Tiger. Do you think he would have wanted Tiger to withdraw with the hurt leg? I doubt it very seriously. Tiger is GREAT for golf and helps others be even better. I think Phil M. would like it much better if he won with Tiger in the field than without. I don't think the players, the Tour itself, the sponsors, the tournaments or the fans are happy that Tiger is out for the year.

Put it in terms of football...would you rather see BCS #1 play #2 or BCS #1 play non-BCS #125????? Would BCS #2 rather play BCS #1 or #125? I think you get my drift here. The only guys that might be smiling are the ones who would not get a spot in a tournament if Tiger was taking a spot. My guess, even they wish Tiger was in it!

Just me...
