There is one gaffe in the article. Waters said that only one team has competed at the highest level (BCS/1a) during their years in the SBC and that is Louisiana-Lafayette. Maybe I'm not understanding what he is trying to say but North Texas was 1A when they joined the Sun Belt so we have been at the highest level all of our years in the Sun Belt as well. In fact, we have time in grade over all of the Sun Belt teams as this will be our 44th year at the highest level. This will be ULL's 38th year and Arkansas State 27th. The rest are relatively new. This year will be Middle's tenth; the oldest of the newbies.

Maybe he means as a start up, we were in other conferences before we moved to the the sunbelt. PLus WW needs to go.. IMO. Can't tell you why, I have no basis for the argument other than there is no TV contracts.. I just feel he needs to go if we stay in the belt.

Perhaps he just meant ULL was never in 1-AA? I like Waters as a person but I think it's time for some new ideas in the Commish's office. The SBC has been stagnant for too long with sponsors, Bowls, and media. The teams are improving but their conference is not.

Seems like other schools are somehow advancing and putting themselves in better position and/or better conference while we at NT are just sticking with the same old belt and only hoping for CUSA or nothing else.

NT should really consider getting serious about athletics.
