Agreed. And "troll" most certainly has to be included in "name calling", right?

Not if they are trolling, or an admin calls you a troll, or its the fourth Sunday of the month, or if your life insurance doesn't cover zebra stampedes.

Troll is just fancy talk for awesome.

A 2.5 rating is right on target. Dodge had a bad coordinator, I really think this board had alot to do with his depature.

Last season was BAD, so another similiar subpar performance will warrant Dodge to have his contract cut short earlier than expected.

I think we improve greatly, this is because we will have a PROVEN DC and Vizza will improve on what he his capable of doing on the field. I have big question marks on the running game, the secondary, and linebackers stepping up to make the big play. we also need a decent FG kicker, cause we cant afford to lose close games.

If a coach is making his decisions based on the rantings by a bunch of fanatics, then he is not doing his job.

Just a scary comment. ;)

Where do I start... They don't pick on the CS majors in the technical writing classes anymore than they pick on any major. Writing, especially technical writing (where business writing falls), is integral to everyone's job. It is a direct reflection on your education (or lack thereof) and ability to communicate effectively. Have you ever tried to communicate in an e-mail or letter with poor writing? Or have you ever received an e-mail or letter that made no sense? I'll bet it took several hours of correspondence to get traction on the conversation. The Technical Writing program at North Texas is one of the best in the country (I believe it's ranked number 3), and focuses specifically on real-world application of writing. The clases are difficult because UNT wants graduates who can represent themselves well in writing and who can communicate effectively. In fact, UNT is one of very few schools who require most of their science majors to complete courses in technical writing. Since you were attempting a CS degree, may I assume you work (or wanted to work) in software development?

Someone has to explain to the general public the techno-garble that application engineers put out. Without technical writers (who, at UNT also have training in UI development and usability), everyone might be spending their time trying to figure out the latest MS Works application. An application engineer who has an appreciation for what writers accomplish can work much better in a team environment and will have more value in a company for his or her ability to communicate changes via engineering specs.

This won't give you comfort in your grade in the class, but perhaps you might be interested to know that Dr. Cooke has a reputation of being extremely fair and sticking to the syllabus. Perhaps she took your comments under advisement and made changes to her teaching style. In all my dealings (and all my friends' dealings) with her, we have found her fair, honest, and an excellent teacher.

perhaps she has grown up and gotten over herself in the last few years

because she sure needed to when I had her

she tried and had an OK idea.....but she forgot the difference between the real world and academia is that in academic students need something FIRM to be graded upon

and hopefully she realized that HOT 5-11 college girls will go to her "in confidence" and against what the syllabus says and play her like a fiddle into increasing their grade and pinning the groups issues off onto one member of the group right at the end of the semester

I was surprised she was still at UNT......makes me wish all the more I had gone to see the chair of the department and put a huge black mark on her teaching record the way she attempted to with my transcript

I have never felt a professor ever GAVE me a grade I deserved or did not deserve in all my time before or after UNT......Lynne Cooke SUCKS.......she teaches the same old tired crap in her 4300 as you learn in the two classes prior to it......she was upset because my group played on the internet instead of listening to her drivel, and that we choose to meet outside of class instead of sitting in that cramped English lab, and that I preferred to hear the hot girls spring break stories than to have major concerns with a project that would change by the next class period

Dr. Cooke Could not get over the fact that she is aged and tired and her class was a disaster and a waste of time and money....and that the only group made up entirely of CS majors and taking things in stride was doing as well or better than other groups that had an English major in them........which was what the hot girl brought up one day in class to my group (our group having no English majors).....which she blabbed about talking to Dr. Cooke about.....right up until she figured out she had just let the rest of out group know that she had met with Dr. Cooke to discuss the project without other members of the group being there.....then she shut up

any professor that refuses to meet with a student about a grade and instead allows a seven line email change their view....and that students grade by one letter grade....needs to be shown the door

I've enjoyed your outside view on things for the most part, but I am amused that the majority of your attitudes can be boiled down to a pissing match about a grade.

actually that is the one personal story that I mentioned on this forum

my opinion on UNT was formed long before this particular incident took place so no my evaluation on UNT does not come down to one grade, in one class, from one poor teacher

it comes down to personal experiences I have had had both good and bad at a number of universities and community colleges in Texas as a student and as an employee and my comparison of them to UNT

I have listed a number of issues in this thread and others that are not personal stories and can be easily verified by paying a visit to any number of faculty still on campus at UNT

I have also provided links to a number of other articles and websites where UNT has failed when it comes to engineering and the hard sciences....and university planning in general

so no my opinion was formed long before my last semester at UNT and this particular class......and my grade was changed to a B which more clearly reflects my performance in that class....so it is even less an issue than one would think.....I only mentioned that personal experience because my English abilities were questioned

There are good professors and bad professors and I have come to the realization that the views on a professor is completely subjective. There were professors that I thought were good for nothing but money people taking their classes loved them and vice versa.

Sounds like someone else needs to do the same.

yes you should

when you have something to support your positions against my positions I would welcome hearing them

This thread was started to discuss who is on the coaching hot seat, not you disdain for a professor that GAVE you a grade. You've taken damn near every thread and hijacked it to address your personal agenda over the ills of NT. Go somewhere else and bitch.

You just posted, on another thread, how RV was ready to go with the original plans of converting the physical plant to a new Athletic Center and upgrading Fouts, but it was yanked out from under him. Really? Where are your facts that his $90 million was in place to do this? You claim that the hotel is now slowing down the progress towards a new stadium. Really? You seem to be the only one with this opinion. You are full of opinions, something we all have and we all know what they are compared to.

:offtopic: This thread was to discuss the hot seat rating of coaches.

In this particular thread I discussed the hot seat rating of Mack Brown in relation to Todge

as someone else correctly point out....this lead to others questioning where I went to school ect.....and I answered....then I was further questioned....and answered...if you don't want the answer of feel you will not like the answer provided.....don't ask

now you have yet again brought another thread into this one

quit feeding this troll until his/her infamous wisdom turns the corner on contribution instead of opinion. We need suggestion and positive posts to move to the next level of anything, you pick it..

How many suggestions and positive posts does it take to build a new stadium?

Giggity..............

How'd that work out for you..........?

Did ya?......... I hope you did, because you've already mastered the use of periods....... and whether or not to use weather or whether in a sentence not talking about rain or shine........ I really hope you got something out of that class, please tell me you did.......

it appears only checkfacts knows!!!!

it takes 1,956,986 wishful post which means UNT is only 56,981 post away

but you have not even started up the sunshine pump yet which means a stadium is a few years away at least

and no I didn't I was probably 8 years older than her and she had a BF

but her stories were funny......I just could not believe how dingy she was about some things VS how good a programmer she was

hell even hearing her talk about how much money her dad made and how little he gave here was more interesting than Lynne Cooke

Someone else needs to explain to the general public the techno-garble that application engineers put out because the project deadline is looming and documenting how something works is an afterthought. Without technical writers, application engineers would be spending all their time trying to figure out how to explain how the latest version of MS Works functions in terms that an 8th grader should understand. An application engineer generally has an appreciation for what technical writers accomplish since the application engineers have more time to work on things that have more value to the company.

Sorry for going off topic. As a programmer, I felt this needed to be addressed.

You know... maybe your bad experience at UNT wasn't because someone ELSE sucked...

To be honest, I'm growing a little weary of your constant UNT bashing over the past week. You've already said you've been banned previously from this board under several different names...

I think perhaps it is time for the admins to enfore rule #4

I wish the stadium could be built out sunshine and unicorn farts. Hell, I'd settle for rainbows and fields of daisies.

Anyone notice how every thread somehow ends up back at the same discussion/digression? All we need is some global warming/gas price banter with a few sprinklings of pit bull victims and we can pretty much shut the rest of this site down!

Oh, and it also needs THIS. God that song pumps me up.
