You can expect to hear the same thing next semester - and the next, and the......

I don't think so. Obviously this project is moving forward... we have a binder and everything!

Another stadium thread that tells us very little. We all want it, but probably is years and years away from actually happening. I am done getting any hopes up about a stadium anytime in the near future. I will just go with what we get and not expect anything, then be suprised when something does happen, kind of like I was when they removed DD.

IT WILL HAPPEN and you WILL live to see it...now, get ready to donate and order tickets. I hope I don't read posts from the same folks "wondering" if the stadium will be built, yelling about the price of tickets when it is built. Prices WILL go up along with "donation" levels for the better seats. Remember, be careful what you ask for because you might get it! I recall the "agony and complaining" on this board when "donation" levels were announced this year for next season's tickets. You would have thought Jerry Jones was setting the fee/donation level. Get ready...start saving now, so you can be part of the first season in the new stadium. I'll be there and it will e GREAT! Just remember...you asked for it! WE ALL asked for it! GO MEAN GREEN!

As for me....I am hoping for the best but I am certainly expecting the worst. I just hope we have not stooped that low to where Texas State and UTSA has surpassed us in football. We've been jerkin off too much and we really need to get serious. Its evident that college athletics is a big race everyone is starting to realize how important that can be to a Unversity. I hope UNT BOR stops screwin around and really get serious about this. I would rather not have athletics at all than to do it half assly and get embarrassed by other schools. Just my opinion at the very second.

Will it be the the gold, silver or bronze medal that will adorn the outside of the new stadium?

---Don't you have to win a lot and finish in the top three to get one of those medals???? Does a "titainium medal" mean you finished in a tie?? Inquiring minds want to know.

---I am betting on some METAL other than those.... they are sort of expensive and likely to be torn off by Vandals [ Which also means we can't schedule Idaho ]. I do hope it is not the "unobtainium metal" as was mentioned earlier.

Unless our University can prove me wrong, the hand writing is on the wall for this older alum. I truly do not believe I will see a new football stadium in my lifetime. Some may say I have given up on the program. Perhaps, but I'll still attend as many games as I can.

I know these are just message boards, but perception is sometimes reality. Even if the Big East did not expand and CUSA remained status quo, the fact is that not many people even thought of old NT as a replacement for whoever left their conference. Many were clamoring for UTSA, South Alabama, Troy, MTSU, Georgia Southern, etc. Some of these schools don't even play football! Again, just message boards from off-season fans.

The only thing that would perk me up would be for Dodge's team to go 8-4 or 7-5 this season.

Swoooooosh!

KRAM,

Everyone (non-NT alums) I talk to about the "value" that IS North Texas football is amazed that we charge so little for games, even those that have been to Fouts.

I upped my donation this year by $1000, with the extra grand to be set aside for the stadium fund.

The joy (and pain) I will get from seeing my team play in the alleged new stadium is worth at least 2x what I currently pay (admittedly, I sit in the family section).

Lets move this thing along.

Wah, wah, wah.

"I want a new stadium, but no one will fund it."

"I won't see a new stadium ever because no one will fund it."

"I didn't get a binder yet, but I'm also not targeted as a big donor."

"I want a new stadium and our program to be taken seriously, but the new donation levels are outrageous"

All I read is pissing and moaning about the financial status of the athletic department and our coffers, but when called to do something about it, there's even more pissing, moaning, and incredulity. Seriously, we're getting to the point in our University's growth where it's time for the alums to put up or shut up. If you want new stadiums and respect and all that, then stop being a damn tightwad. UNT can use your tithing more than your church or other frivolous spending you do.

Bryan316, I kind of resent your post. I've been following this program for longer than I care to remember but have yet to hear or see anything official for the President, the BOR, or RV that North Texas will build a new football stadium. Here is what it will look like, here's how we plan to do it, and we need your help Mr. DeepGreen. Here are the different contribution levels and this is what your contribution will get you. Not one person has sent me one freaking brochure detailing a damn thing about the new stadium. No one is crying wah, wah, wah. Many are just disgusted with the smoke and mirrors that have been present the past 4-5 years regarding the stadium. While they try to find one or two big donors all this time, they could have cultivated any number of small to mid-size donors. Kick in a per semester fee to the students. Someone has to grow some balls and do what needs to get done for this stadium issue.

Just wondering, but what have you done?

Could just be nitpicking on my part but this is the only part of your post that I disagree with. If, and I'm assuming, you are wondering what kind of toy surprise you will get for giving then perhaps the Mean Green club has spoiled us too much.

No, no. Let me clarify. What your particular donation will get you is 50 yard line seats at the club level, with an option to renue each year. Of course, throwing in a Booger Kennedy bobblehead would be a boon too!

I see in the football programs...a listing of donors to the stadium capital campaign. I know who some of them are...and some of them aren't any bigger of a donor than I've been.

So what is the deal? Do you just send your money in unsolicited? Do you write "Stadium Fund" on your check?

I'm just curious. Because, until I'm actually asked for a stadium donation...it'd be hard for me to just write a check to a maybe, sorta, kinda stadium fund.

My point exactly!

More important, are the tah-tahs on your avatar for real?

At this point in time, I strongly feel that our alumns are not in the position to make a huge contributition to this whole thing...it has not happened yet so I dont anticipate it in happening now. That being said, it goes both ways. The BOR needs to take action too and take that initial step to get this fixed and as FFR says to "fix the problem". We cant hide from the reality and the reality is that the school needs to make that huge step first to get this thing jumpstarted because if that doesnt happen, I really dont see anything happening for a long long long time.

How would NT know? They've never officially asked. I don't even know what the official "proposed" stadium looks like. Sure, someone once emailed me some "top secret" rendering, but nothing directly from the AD.

IMHO, the first step is to have a per semester athletic fee added, beginning this Fall, 2008.

Yes, I have $80 million to give for a Stadium but no one has asked me for it. How would they know what I can give or not or who I might know that could give a big donation. Sometimes I feel NT Athletics doesn't use it best asset enough...it's fans and MGC members. Networking is the key to finding many opportunities, and we are missing the chance to use it. <_<

The mere fact, that the alums have not been asked to donate to a stadium project should tell us just how FAR OFF WE ARE.

I have a source that states deals are in place for both presidential candidates that in exchange for building their presidential library they will fund our stadium. McCain has requested under one condition that the team bus be renamed the straight asskickin express, while Obama's condition is that we'll schedule a home and home deal with Hawaii every 2 years.
