Nothing I enjoy more than playing one of the service academies. Hope we have a return trip scheduled to both Army and Navy.

I think that we will go to Army for a game. But, I think Navy played us last year...to help the MAC fulfill their game in Denton. Remember when we went to Akron...and no MAC school came to Denton?

(That got Navy out of a game against a MAC school). So, in other words.....I don't think we go to Annapolis.

Army has some great fans. They had a pretty good contingent at ASU. We've got something like an 8 year 4 game deal coming up with them.

Army likes sending its' cadets down to Jonesboro. It prepares them, if they ever have to invade a 3rd World Country.

Nov. 21, 2009 is the weekend before Thanksgiving break. Although late November weather can be fickle, I think this will be a well attended game, like Navy, and a new stadium would help too. Hopefully no more home games for the weekend of Thanksgiving in the future.

Then I'm worried about the Army. They didn't look too hot in Jonesboro.

We have made several North Texas road games over the last few years but none of them was a better experience than the one to West Point during the Matt Simon era. When the schedule comes out for us to return that game, make plans to hock your wife's jewelry or get a second mortgage on your house if necessary, but make the trip to West Point. It is one that you will remember for a long time.

I was at that game also. Went with an NT alum that lives 3 blocks from Central Park in New York City. My brother in law is a West Point grad, showed us the campus before the game. It had snowed the night before and all the snow had been plowed to the sidelines. The stands were cold and full and I was treated wonderfully. NT lost but played well enough for me to enjoy the rest of the weekend.

We have planned for our kids to get their first taste of NYC around that weekend in 2010 and I think I am more excited about it than my kids.

What? never heard about a "nasty letter" written by Coach Simon after Unt's last game with Army at West Point. What was up with that? Did he think UNT got "homered" by the refs or what?

This is just the type of game UNT needs to schedule. It will bring a great crowd and great excitement to UNT just like last year's Navy game. What a fun time that was, and what a turnout by both teams at Fouts. Just shows...if you schedule "interesting" teams, the rears will be in the seats. Way to go RV and staff. Great job...now, go ahead and get Navy and AF back to Fouts...or even a new stadium. Bring 'em on!

I don't remember the exact cause, but a remember the Commandant was livid after the letter.

Does anyone know when we are going up there to return the game? With the cost of jet fuel on the rise, I might need to start a special savings account just to pay for the trip. Whatever the cost......I am going.
