Yay, our 1 star defensive tackle is eligable.

Uhh......Jenkins is an offensive tackle.

My mistake I know what position he plays, I don't know why I typed defensive tackle.

Is this really good news or just "not bad news". Maybe my expectations are too high, but it sounds like all he did was do what he's suppose to. I'm glad he's here, I hope he's successful, but I'm not gonna crap myself in excitement because this guy barely passed enough classes to make it on campus. If he becomes a positive asset to our school (not just our football team) for 2/3 years and graduates, then I'll gladly pat him on the back.

What happens if his acedemics continue to falter? APR?

Wouldn't be good.

P.S. There's just something ironic in the spelling above that makes me laugh.

It doesn't make sense that people on here (armchair QB's i.e. MeanGreenEagle) constantly want 'more beef' up front on both sides of the ball (which is totally understandable), and then we get a good report that this 6'4" 335 lb. recruit should be ready to go come two-a-days, and you post something stupid like that. He's a 3 or 4 star recruit for crying out loud, and he plays 'the other tackle' position on the offensive side of the ball. Hopefully, he will get in here and be an immediate impact guy on the offensive line, and will play for 1 or 2 years and get drafted. But I guess if he gets drafted, MeanGreenEagle isn't going to pat him on the back; as he has to graduate for you to pat him on the back... what a joke! <_<

This is very good news. There was a question about Jenkins making up hours

and grades required to be able to qualify, so looks like he has accomplished

his work. The coaching staff apparently has Jenkins slated to be the right side

OT, but there will be other players available to compete for the position. I believe

Troy Franklin from Celina HS will be a contender, even as a true freshman

when fall camp opens. With the new players coming in for 2 a days, the

coaching staff will have options and depth on the OL, which is something

the coaching staff has not had the luxury of in the past.

If the JUCO players work out, and the injured players heal up, the OL should

be in better shape than ever before. Last year, Vizza was sacked 30+ times,

and had, I am not sure about the total, what 18 int's. Alot of the sacks and

int's were related to the young inexperienced OL players. Now, most of the

OL starters have a year of game experience, and a year of Dodge Ball under

their belts, plus new OL talent coming in. This means, Vizza will have more

protection and more time in the pocket. Give Vizza just a few more

seconds to find our very good WR's, then Vizza will shread defenses apart!

Another point, as the passing game opens up, the running game will

open up too! Mosley and Montgomery, will have open lanes, WOW! The

"M & M" guys will have a great year in 2008! I predict 2200yds team rushing

yards for 2008, with one of these guys hitting 1000yds for the season!

I like Troy Franklin as well and feel like he will be a big part of the Mean Green for the next 5 years, but coming from a small school where he 1) played defense almost exclusively and 2) comes from a school that runs it 50+ times a game, there will be a period of adjustment and a significant learning curve. Also, let's face it, the speed of the 3A football game is s-l-o-w. I certainly believe Troy can contribute on the offensive line in the future, but I wouldn't expect much early on.

The thread should be closed, as it absolutely has everything to do with UNT football.

I think this is good news. Yes, the kid did what he was supposed to do. No one is planning a parade for him over it, but considering that kids not doing what they were supposed to do got us in trouble, it is ok to enjoy positive news. Besides, the NT Exes wouldn't even be in the parade anyway... ;)

But I digress. This student-athlete seems to have some real talent and our O-line will benefit from his presence. So, yes, let's be glad he is taking care of business so he can take care of business on the field this fall.

Pfft... Details. Get over yourselves with your "facts".

If you'll excuse me, I'll be over here joining in on the party, pissing on the one piece of good news our Men's Football/Basketball teams have gotten in the past month or two.

I know "ONE" piece of good news that will be universally welcomed (well, the Mean Green universe, that is). And that's all I'm going to say about that.

GMG!
