😂 I hate revisiting the records and specific games of that era cause it was all such a train wreck. Still should be discussed from time to time when some of our fanbase gets restless with wanting to take the next step as a program. Trying to cement ourselves as a perineal Top 50 program is tough but we’re on the right track. I remember years back @TheTastyGreek putting into perspective how tough achieving a Top 25 ranking in hoops was relative to FBS football back in the day. Too lazy to go dig that up but it really highlighted how difficult it is generally speaking and then layer in what you’re describing above - what UNT has had to overcome from a performance and program perception standpoint. -

Seth loses OU gig
Oklahoma hired Washington State’s Ben Arbuckle — just 29 — to be its new offensive coordinator yesterday. He takes over for the fired Seth Littrell, whose offenses sputtered in the Sooners’ first SEC season. Meanwhile, Florida Atlantic picked Texas Tech offensive coordinator Zach Kittley, just 33, to replace Tom Herman as head coach. -The Athletic Plus -

If Eric Morris wins a bowl game, will you forgive his past sins?
I’ll never understand the mental gymnastics some on here do to justify this underperformance? We fired Seth after a Conference USA title game appearance- justifiably - so we would get someone to take the NEXT step that was elusive for his regime. Now we’ve got people making excuses for wasting the first year of Morris’ tenure by mis-reading the personnel that he judged to be “AAC title contenders” and then flopping. Didn’t use the portal well enough to beef up glaring deficiencies. Then brings back the worst, yet somehow highest compensated G5 DC in America for year 2 which led to an inevitable firing that even the most casual of football fans could see coming from a mile away before the season even started. The 2nd year performance was predictable as well, but extra dissapointing given the soft schedule 5-1 start. To end up 6-6 is nearly unforgivable. We’d better win this upcoming Bowl game.- 1

like how we finished 8-22 in Benford's last season and had a final ranking of 299?? at the time we were a few spots below a couple hospital teams, Detroit Mercy & Sacred Heart. now we're three back of UT https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/seasons/men/2017-ratings.html -

Agreed. But we can all also agree that this is a great jumping off point for UNT in NET. A quality indicator of the program’s overall progress since Grant first arrived. We’ve come a LONG way from the Benford era.- 1
