Ok? So? I already know UNT is lacking in sales. Come on, without a single NCAA championship, what's there to buy amirite?

University of Delaware was #70. With 34,000 students, shouldn't we be ranked at least in the top 50?

If our students would start buying our gear and not that of other schools then we probably would.

And how many state universities does Delaware have?

We shouldn't be in bed with CLC in the first place. They are a bunch of sorry people that doesn't give a rats ass about us. I don't care for them or their management one bit and wished we could go indy with that situation. It sickens me that we give them a single dime, and for nothing!

I can't help but think this kind of sounds like the whole Scouts/Rivals ranking thing. Like maybe if we were ranked on their list, we would look at it differently...

What's your beef with CLC?

They are only interested in working hard for the big money programs and don't give a rats about North Texas. Doing business with them is expensive which forces smaller producers out of the picture. Smaller producers who may be local in the North Texas region can't afford to get in the game. And mostly, they @#$#ed me and SilverEagle nine ways to Jehovah back in '03 with the final champoinship T shirt we did when we ran GreenStock. I sent them Austin Talon's graphics he did for us to do a 3 time Sunbelt Conference Championship T shirt along with $350 cash for the licensed agreement to place the Sunbelt Conference logo on the shirt. That was on a Monday and I overnighted the applicaton. The next day, Tuesday they called me at home and said they had looked over the design and liked it and that we had approval to go forward, so we did, printing up 500 T shirts. We finished the final batch that Thursday. Friday morning I get a call from Atlanta of a teleconference call with several CLC leadership who tell me that they have decided that they had re-considered their decision, that because there are buildings similar to those seen in Jackson Square in the design, and that the colors Purple, Gold and Green are also used in the design, that they now had decided, that since the City of New Orleans owned the New Orleans Bowl, that we were referencing the New Orleans Bowl as well as the Sunbelt Conference and that we now needed to send them an additional $1200 for the N.O. Bowl reference. After argueing several valid points to no end I told them to go screw themselves and that I would see them in court. Later I find out what a court battle in Atlanta, from Texas would cost me and just dropped it. But that's it in a nutshell. Several weeks later in New Orleans one of their big wheeler dealers that they shell out large contracts to out of Kansas City showed up with the "official" and very unimaginative North Texas bowl game T shirts to sell. The shirts were expensive and didn't utililize our schools colors or logoa well. Very bland. The same outfit did the other team's shirts also I believe? Regardless, we ended up eating that shirt we did and gave them away for free at the first home game the next season and never got our $350 back either. Thus the end of GreenStock and the end of North Texas fans having another choice for Mean Green gear.

I have to concur with this. There are a few of us who have been trying for some time to get more UNT stuff out there. A huge obstacle (one of many we've faced) is dealing with the CLC. For one thing, you can not only piss them off, but you run the risk of pissing off the school you're trying to help if you try to skate by on logos or colors or anything else. The cost to 'get in' is one thing, but the other is that many schools (and the CLC) want a sample (SEVERAL) of what you're going to sell before they will 'approve' your output at all. This can be a big expense. If you don't go with CLC licensing, many places will not carry the stuff, not to mention the risk of lawsuits. It's difficult.

I worked with a U of Ark guy who was trying to get a t-shirt out there with a special fabric HE had designed and copyrighted, and he went through hell, and much $$$ to get ONE t-shirt design approved by UA and the CLC. He even took it to Jerry Jones' office for his personal approval and to see what 'help' he could get. It cost him a bundle, and I'm not sure he's been able to make his money back yet.

I don't know if FFR or 1855 are old enough to remember the late 70's/early 80's as a teenager, but at rock concerts, the best t-shirts were sold out of a bootleggers station wagon before and after the show for 8 bucks. They always had the best designs--even if they only lasted 4-5 washings. :D

I guess I'll go ahead and disclaim that I'm not suggesting bootlegging UNT gear. Wait...
