UNT adds members of football team to roster

The UNT track program has added a pair of football players to its roster.

Wide receiver Jamel Jackson and defensive back Justin Flowers are expected to run sprints for the Mean Green. Former Mean Green wide receiver Johnny Quinn ran sprints for UNT during his record-setting career that saw him set the school records for career receptions (187) and receiving yards (2,718).

“Jamel is one of the guys we will look at on the relays,” UNT head coach Rick Watkins said. “Both will need to work on their starts, but I think they have a chance to help us. We have had football players who have helped us in the past.”

Wonder why Strickler has never participated in track. He was one of the best discus throwers in the nation his senior year in High School and that is an extremely weak area on the current track team.

As an aside, I noticed that WBB signee Ryan Green from Crowley has already high jumped 5'10 this year which if not the record is close to NT's all time best.
