What again is the civil liberties groups' opposition to this? That it doesn't allow teenagers to loiter where they aren't welcome?

And the idea that these kids have "rights" that are infringed upon is ludicrous. Americans have long had a real problem with taking their "wants" and "desires" and assigning them the name "rights".

I don't know. Bubb Rubb and Lil' Sis don't think their whistle pipes are a problem either... Something about annoying sounds in public, which have only one purpose, and that is to annoy.

Maybe there is some right in not having annoying noises blaring all the time. But maybe that is only when it affects you. Dunno.

Interestingly enough, teens are using ringers that use this frequency so they can get text messages and phone calls while in class. The teachers can't hear the rings. Pretty clever.

But James Alan Fox, a criminologist at Boston's Northeastern University, said crowd-monitoring devices in the hands of private businesses and citizens is "dangerous."

"There is a significant problem with giving people a tool like this and empowering the public to take over the tasks of law enforcement," Fox said."

How dare businesses and citizens do something to protect their property. :o

I'm not worrying about Rubb and Sis for that whistle tip crap. I'm worried about their driving.

As for the sound device- like anything that's a deterrent, it's fine if it's used properly. It's only dangerous when used inappropriately, which it inevitably will. Solution: mom and dad, do your job.
