Pacman Finally A Cowboy

Recommended Posts

Adam Pacman Jones is finally a Cowboy as they completed the deal. Dallas will be sending a 4th round pick in exchange for Jones and depending how much he plays this season, the Cowboys will either give the Titans another pick next season or the Titans will send a pick to the Cowboys. This is definitely a huge deal and boost for the defense and secondary. Now the Cowboys can put a little more focus on other positions.

With capacity going up to 80,000+....it's possible that there will be some blackouts in the future. Probably not for a while, as most fans will want to go see a game at the new stadium.

I always get NFL Sunday Ticket every year.

I wonder, if you get Sunday Ticket...if a game were to be blacked out in your area....if you'd get the game? I'm thinking you would.

So, what does it mean for fans if the stadium doesn't sell out? The Cowboys game in North Texas gets blacked out. It's an NFL rule.

I've never understood punishing a team's fan base that lives in the area the games are played because the team couldn't sell out its stadium. In the NFL, if you (the owner) can't sell out a pro-sized stadium, you (the owner) really need to sit back and scratch your head about it.

Sorry SUMG, even DirectTV blacks out the games in the local market.

I'm glad your here CG to counter the lies our media tries to sell us. What's that guy thinking of by even mentioning black outs?

Rick

Our media?? "investigative reporter Brett Shipp"?? I don't think I'd say "the media is trying to sell us" anything. A bit of exagerration there. No need for smartassery.

You don't really think there will be black outs in 2009, do you? If the team is good, they'll sell out every game, just about being able to name their price. Now years after the novelty of the stadium wears off, the team craters, whatever, well, that's a different game. But until then, only eight home games, not 41 or 81. Most valuable sports franchise in America. Just read yesterday that Texas (DFW in particular) is home to more corporate HQs than anywhere else in the nation. Over a year plus till kickoff. They still haven't even released the pricing for the "regular" seats. Fact of the matter is, regardless of what you may or may not think about prices going up, this thing will be THE place to be when it first opens. It will be the hottest ticket in town, Dallas is a "place to be, see and be seen" city. Even the scalpers will clean up early.

Sure, it may be a dead, corporate crowd, but look around-- it was at Texas Stadium, and it is at the AAC. Might not be at the Ballpark, but we'll never know because there's nothing to cheer about there.

But to answer your question, yes, I believe people will be there to see Pac-Man play. If they're not, it's because he's made it rain too hard before then and doesn't last til opening day at Jerryworld.

Blackout rules still apply.

I can't imagine the stadium not selling out for the first couple years, especially when the team is good. And Jerry wants the local fans to see the new digs.

This assuming the guy can stay out of trouble - which I have serious doubts - you don't get arrested 6 times in less than 3 years and not have some serious issues.

JJ continues to tarnish the star.

Boy does he. It seems like yesturday JJ wouldn't draft Moss because he was worried about their image with him on the team, and now Pac-man?

I'm just glad that save some retirement era pants-pooping, this story can just go away.

Old man river in my office felt the need to send one of those cliche America's Team is becoming America's Most Wanted notes out this morning. This followed a recent speech about how airlines don't need to be going after Hispanic clients because they'll never use business class enough. Then he crapped his pants and put on a clan hood - that was also, ironically, covered in crap.

--It is no cinch that he will play for anyone... The NFL has not reinstated him. It appears that the Cowboys are becoming the new Raiders...by taking everyone's rejects. I did not have any problem with the "Tank" deal ( some of what he was guilty of was actually legal in Texas and in Ariz. where he grew up , gun possession) and TO is just an prima-dona idiot, not a criminal, but not so sure about this one... this guy can't seem to stay away from being checked on by the police. I am afraid if the Boys get too many of these guys that the "wheels will come off". We definitely are past the Tom Landry era now (squeaky clean or gone). I am not so sure anyone can trust anything this guy says.

How is JJ tarnishing the star? Lets face it, sports is filled with thugs, it just so happens that Pacman got caught. Sure it was more than once but to say he's tarnishing the star is ludicrous. Any professional sports franchise would love to have JJ as an owner, beleive me ask anybody who lives in other cities. He is trying to win and the Cowboys are in a position where they can do something like this. They arent 1-15 or 5-11, this was a 13 win team last year that had deficiencies in the defensive backfield. I admit I dont agree with his actions but I have learned to accept that its a fact of life in the NFL and sports....not everyone but a lot.

And he will play this year and get reinstated. It may not be for the full season but at some point he will play I bet. JJ is a risk taker but he's not an idiot by any means. Remember the risk is too less and the reward is HUGE. He is a primo CB that is too good not to take a stab at. What we gave up is nothing compared to what we may get in return.

I didn't report this and I said nothing about '09. It's not my story nor does it include any of my predictions? But it's interesting that Jones has now lied about the turnout so far and that the turnout is so low for the new, hottest ticket in town, corporate sales wise.

And the Cowboys may turnout to be the winners in the PacMan deal because if he doesn't pan out or is never re-instated they still get a pick from Tennessee, for free.

So do you allow your team to be full of thugs? Is there any cutoff point where you say, "We are not going to tolerate our players being criminals"?

but to say he's tarnishing the star is ludicrous.
Really? As SE-66 noted above, under Tex Schramm and Tom Landry, the Cowboys always had the "squeaky clean or gone" reputation. Cowboys players were known as exemplary. Still true? No? Then it is accurate to say that the star has been tarnished. Now it is other teams who have a reputation for jettisoning players who cannot live within the basic confines of the law.

Any professional sports franchise would love to have JJ as an owner, beleive me ask anybody who lives in other cities. He is trying to win

He has had some good success. He is a brilliant businessman. But there is no doubt that the Cowboys' reputation has gone downhill. Many people would love to have Jerry Jones as the owner of their team; others would not want him touching their team with a 10 foot pole. Even in and around Dallas, I know many longtime Cowboy fans (and you probably do too) who won't have anything to do with the Cowboys any more.

He is a primo CB that is too good not to take a stab at.

Great player, no doubt. But I think taking players like this continues to shape the face of the franchise into something less than desirable.

No, but you'd have to assume Jerry knows something that we don't about the situation.

Bingo... Jerry Jones may not be entirely human, but you can bet your ass his plastic composite face got some kind of word from Goodell that Pac Man would be reinstated assuming Adam walks a straight line from now until then.

After that he just needs to steer clear of "scrip clubs" because Goodell isn't going to put up with anyone "being rebellion".
